At this rate I hate to say it but F1 with it's mickey mouse 50% hybrid POS rules is fast toppling as the 'pinnacle of motorsport', when are they going to kick themselves in Paris to WAKE UP.

His team was disqualified for having used an extra set of tires vs what was allowed.

The 1 min gap is partially explained. Imagine having a tire offset across 4 hours of race time to your competitors.

Tbh surprised the gap wasn't larger

BYD doesn't want to be Tesla, it want's to be GM and Toyota. It needs acceptability, visibility and stupid politicians to open closed markets. Gasoline, diesel, hybrid and EV id the offering and market domination is the goal.
Automotive manufacturing is one of the last major employers and thus tax base suppliers in many countries, Opening the market to CCP backed BYD is unleashing Locusts in your garden.

BYD Unveils Engine That Could Shake the EV Industry in 2026!
Just to be clear here ;) , I'm not a fan of BYD or any Chinese electric vehicle company, especially their underhand tactics and undercutting local and domestic based companies in other countries with their subsidies.

Yeah, and the Hyper-corrupt BofP politics - what could be more "pure" ?
Oh, I know, NASCAR restrictor plates/tapered spacer, of course!

You guys are somewhat entertaining, but none of this has anything to do with F1 - Chinese GP.

Perhaps it's time to start a dedicated Max-worshiping "he can still win in lower series" thread ?

Agreed on BYD ambitions, but what makes you think that BYD is backed by CCP?

That's akin to claiming that Tesla is backed by MAGA Inc. If anything, an argument could be made that control goes the other way around ;-).

a
TSLA definitely backed by Maga. Elon and Trump are buddies, then Elon had a fight with Trump and started tweeting bad things about Maga, and Trump tweeted ONE tweet. "if Elon continues to attack me i will terminate all his contracts". IMMEDIATE silence from Elon after that. so you tell me who controls who?

BYD. They are the biggest selling car company in the world. but are they? well the CPP granted BYD a cashback for every EV they sold. guess what they did, they sold every EV to themselves (seller: BYD, buyer BYD), take the cash back, claim the world's biggest car seller title, and they are still looking for buyers for these cars that are stored on empty plots of land. with the oil shortage I think this is the break for them to finally get rid of these EVs.

For the immediate future we will just have to enjoy Fernando going from P20 to P10 on the first lap each time then being vibrated out of the race.
This might be one of the funniest things I’ve read on this board for some time. Gonna keep this in my head for the next few races

Yeah slip of the tongue heh this four hour was just an interim so doesn't matter that much, maybe the Falkens would have lasted longer than the Michelins..

Christian Hohenadel :

The Mercedes ///AMG team boss Christian Hohenadel said that he is responsible for the 7th tire pit mistake and for the race disqualification.

But let us focus now for the ADAC RAVENOL 24/h of the Nürburgring.

It’s Max Verstappen Racing so it is his team and he should be responsible for the running of the team.

I guess it’s easier to let the AMG guys take the blame.

You have accused Merc and McLaren of cheating for years that was never proven but you once again make excuses when it’s your guy.

By this same token, is Hamilton a cheater? He's had the most DSQs in F1 in the last 20 years. Running a car too low with the intent on faster pace in hopes to get away with plank wear and checks qualifies as cheating to me especially when he is responsible for the setup.

On the other hand, Max does not control the tires.

SHOCK CLAIM: Formula E founder Alejandro Agag says Toto Wolff is the "main force" behind F1's new electric-heavy engine rules.
👉 Agag suggests Wolff used Mercedes' Formula E knowledge to shape regulations that BENEFIT his team.
Fueling criticism from drivers that F1 is becoming too similar to Formula E.

BS (!)

You must be kidding . Isn't it ?

In a race car : A racing driver has to be 100% non-stop focused behind his steering wheel on the track and in extreme high speeds .

During the races : The pit strategy and the call to pit is (always)! coming from the pit wall via the onboard radio (!)
All a racing driver can say from behind his steering wheel is : Guys ,my tires are cooked or my tires are gone.
