New Order (Individual Color) Questions

Hi all! I placed an order for my first BMW (MY26 X5 xDrive 40i) earlier this week and my dealer indicated to me that placing an order for an individual color (Tanzanite Blue) was still possible.

However, on my build sheet I noticed that I was sitting in status "047 - Spec. released-no quota avail". Is there any cause for concern? Realizing that since this likely signifies that my dealer currently does not have any allocations available that the color options available now may change before they get any additional allocations in April (If they get any).

Curious your thoughts! If it helps I'm based on the Northeast. Please let me know if you have any additional questions that I may be able to answer. Thanks in advance.

Edit: The reason I feel a bit concerned is because I'm aware that BMW will be ramping down production of the MY26 X5s in May/June and have removed those options from their online configurator.

Welcome to the forum. Tanzanite is not an Individual color. As far as availability goes, colors were removed from the Configurator the other month but I think most have been available for order.

Really nothing to worry about since if they are removed then it is removed. Your dealer doesn't have an allocation now but they should be issued within the next week or so. At that point you should find out if your order was accepted with that color. There are probably some dealers who still have an allocation available so you may want to shop around especially if you aren't getting a good discount (10% or so).

My concern would be when/if Tanzanite eventually gets removed from the allocations for dealers. It's been off the website for weeks, so who knows, maybe the next batch of allocations doesn't have it...

Great to hear that it's not an Individual color and that hopefully my dealer can submit the build in the new month. I did end up getting a great deal so I'll probably just wait it out and be a little patient.

Hopefully it will be available for you but like Scott said, it could be removed from next month's allocations. If it is a must-have and you aren't gambler, contact Scott and he can take care of you.

smithf80! I did leave a nonrefundable deposit with my dealer. So it seems like I'm locked it with my current deal unless the paint option becomes unavailable. Let me know if you still might be able to do something for me, otherwise I might just have to roll the dice.

My X6 only showed “special color” up until the build started. Maldives Blue II.

It should only be nonrefundable if they have the ability to order you the vehicle. Since they don't at this point hopefully they would refund it, at least that would be my argument. I would suggest emailing Scott with your build and he should be able to give you an idea of the discount.

They didn't even place you in an allocation, that deposit is definitely refundable. They did was was the equivalent of putting you on a waitlist with a deposit.

Did you at least get a decent amount off the car?

Yes, I got a decent deal (10% off MSRP before incentives). I'll shoot you an email and see if we can get something done.

I just went on the official website and noticed that Carbon Black, Dravit Grey Metallic, and the Tanzanite Blue II Metallic are showing up on the builder for the x40i's again.

Not sure what that means but those 3 colors have been missing for a bit on the website.

just remember everyone, if you do in fact have a allocation you will get a production number. Without that you are just waiting with no guarantees. Allocations are released first part of each month for the most part but each dealer does not get the same or set amount of each vehicle. Happy hunting
