I have been a fan of this latest generation of the X5 M for awhile now and even more so with the LCI. I haven't put too much effort into obtaining one since I already have a 23' M3 Xdrive Competition as my summer weekend car and a newer (24) Land Cruiser as my daily with eventually having an X5 M always lingering in the back of my mind. After seeing some of the recent renders of the new one, I must say, I am not fan. This made me begin to inquire about potentially getting an allocation or finding one locally before production of the current generation ends. I really like the Saphire Black Mettalic with black interior, black calipers, bowers and wilkins, etc and a local dealership has one being delivered in the next couple of weeks. It has everything I want with the additional of the M Driver's Package which I really don't need but it is what it is. I have a small window to determine if I'm going to make a deposit before someone else does and having been comparing the pros and cons of making this move right now. Anyone else here considering picking up a 26' for this same reason?

I just picked up a $144K MSRP M in SoCal black on black on black. I really love the LCI look and have always been a fan of a super SUV rolling on 295/315s. It's the most rubber a factory production BMW is putting down of all time. That's some real rocket ship intent right there straight from the factory.

Pros
*Final version/yr of the amazing S68 mild hybrid powertrain
*Traditional coilover style suspension setup for better road feel and rawness (not a fan of air suspensions on sporting vehicles)
*"Classic" BMW styling soon going away
*Discounts to be had right now (8-10%)

Cons
*Discounts off new tell you same ol' luxury car depreciation (doesn't age well)
*Steering wheel is old looking (at least give me the carbon inserts like my G82 CSL)
*Guzzles gas (1/4 of world's oil supply under duress)
*Climate controls all through LCD (lame)

100 miles young, dropped off for full stealth ppf and some other bits and bobs.

Go for it!

Do it, love mine.

I have a G82 M4 as well. Several threads on this I’ll link to post I’ve made before that may be of help:

https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/showpost.php?p=32414275

Not a lot of cons but here’s some I’ve thought of:

I agree with the above that I wish they had upgraded the steering wheel. I hated the look of the carbon fiber trim while the steering wheel is silver trim, didn’t jive looks wise so I got the piano black trim which I think goes better with it (but I know a lot of people don’t like it).

And now that I’ve had mine for a while, steering feel isn’t as good as the G80/G82. As has been noted in some car reviews of it, there is a zombie feel at lower speeds, ie when parking.

Gas to me is better than I’d have thought for the V8 monster and when I’m just driving normal I get at least 18mpg up to 22.

Tires were a little annoying for me in winter as they are summer tires and I may need to get a winter set for the occasional snow days I’m mandated to be at work. But may not be a problem for you.

Otherwise love it. Great compliment to the G80 platform and more comfortable in my opinion.

I ordered a loaded 26M60i because I wanted DAPP. Both are amazing cars but I wanted self drive. Pisses me off that BMW won’t put DAPP on any of their “true” M cars. Still has plenty of power! I also drive a G80 compX.

Have you given it a test drive yet? I would say this should seal the deal but if not, the almost real chance the new design gets away from this current LCI version should be more enough for you to grab one before they do. That new leak was hideous...:thumbdown

I have to agree with the others...two things I would say are noticeable but not deal breakers are the steering for a true M model (even if a SAV) and the steering wheel itself. They upgraded the carbon paddle shifters but don't understand why they stopped there. Anyways, many 3rd party options if it truly bothers you.

I see you're in Colorado so you will have to do a tire swap at some point which almost everyone here does anyways bc of the summer PS4s.

I honestly don't think there are many other vehicles in this class that beat the X5M on paper for it's numbers and value but that's my opinion.

Good luck!

I say do it. I have a 23 M3cx and 23 m5 comp and 3 other vehicles. But the x5m has always been something I could not shake. I think the one you’re looking at is one that was presented to me,(m drivers pack was give away) but I have ordered one due to not finding the ideal spec and the incentive I was presented with. It’s the last of a IMO iconic suv that still looked timeless and with the direction bmw is going I am turned off.

Dravit, 818 in black, Full Black Leather, DAP, Executive, Bowers & Red Calipers. And I’m looking forward to a PCD Delivery!

My 21 x6m most certainly had DAPP

You have Dap, not DAPP which includes highway assistance.

With the LCI, the X5M and its diet M counterpart are very similar looking now. Same motor too I think, I wasn’t aware the M doesn’t get the full self drive thing. Dang. I haven’t done an update on our X5M, but my X4M got one sometime and it’s self drive now has hands free below 40mph (iirc) even while in traffic if certain conditions are met. It’s pretty cool not having the flashing lights alll the time on the steering wheel. The new ones are good for legit freeway speeds now? Hell yeah. When will these AI bots start road raging on each other like they argue back and forth in socia media posts?

I’m a big fan of the S63 and the separate screens in the pre-lci. Values drop fast on used versions for either one, but that’s good news for buyers! I’m guessing the hot SUVs from the VW/Audi group depreciate just as fast. It’s a full featured ride tho, even has heated and cooled cup holders! And like mentioned before, the tires are absolutely massive. Plus Michelin released the all seasons in 295/315 sizing too, so that’s great news as well.

I'm very possibly thinking the same way. Except I might be getting a '26 in 2028 for like $50k less than it was new :) Same thing i did with my '23

BMW David is awesome! He’s the one helping me. Best pricing out there. Highly recommend. Just need that allocation to hurry up and hit.

Looks great! I'm going to check out a couple different ones on Thursday. Surprised to hear about discounts but if they knocked off 10% it's a done deal for me. I have noticed X5 M inventory seems to be moving slowly. I'm wondering if it's the economy or people waiting for the refresh.

I’ve never seen one on a lot, I also live in BFE tho and don’t visit bmw dealers often. But deals are to be made with cars sitting at the dealership. Longer the more you save.

Actually, the previous generation X5M/X6M, F85/F86 had 325 width tires on the rear.

I guess we’ll have to call it even then. 315/295 or 325/285. That’s close enough…..but now I want 335s or something wider out back.

I purchased a new ‘26 X5MC off of a dealership lot. It was spec’d just the way I like it. I’ve had it for 10 months now and still puts a smile on my stoic face! It is my favorite DD to date. The performance and creature comforts keep me satisfied until I can drive my weekend toy(s). You won’t be disappointed.

After putting in some work, I found a semi-local dealership that had an allocation available for an X5 M. Here are the specs:
  • Black Sapphire Metallic
  • 21/22" M Star-Spoke Black 818M Wheels with Staggered Performance Tires
  • Black Full Merino Leather
  • Carbon Fiber trim
  • Driving Assistance Professional Package
  • Executive Package
  • M Compound Brakes with Red Calipers
  • Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System

The build is scheduled for June, so this is probably one of the last that will be rolling off of the assembly line or as I like to think, the absoute best of its generation. The dealership is providing a nice discount as well, one of the highest out of the 5 or so dealerships I've spoken with. As mentioned in my initial post, my primary driver was the current drive train and styling. I've been researching the next generation model and it just doesn't grab me like this one does. I've also never owned a V8 powered vehicle of any kind and my G80 M3, which the X5 will be joining in the garage, is the most powerful vehicle I've ever owned. So the wait begins...

There are plenty sitting on SoCal dealer lots right now.

If you're not getting 8-10 percent off sticker, you're paying too much.

Also kinda odd to judge a car that doesn't even exist yet. lol And this whole best of gen... X5s ain't no Porsche 911. Newer is better for mass produced commuter cars imho.

Enjoy! I think I have the same exact build as yours.
