P1 - P5 - any car with a Mercedes PU.

Both Mercedes in top 3, any order, if there is no tire degradation like in Miami but ANT should be the favourite coming off 3 straight wins and getting upgrades for Montreal.

The brakes will take a heavy beating at Montreal (!)
Before the Gilles Villeneuve circuit MAX has a date at the Nurburgring 24 hours, rumours are going round that he's itching to try Le Mans next year and if it clashes with an F1 race then too bad, Le Mans is sanctioned by the FIA and is more important than some F1 race :D

Juan Montoya STFU :mad0260: There was a time when I was a fan of his. :sigh:

Montoya: “If I were the big boss at Ford I wouldn't be happy to see Verstappen at the Ring advertising Mercedes”:

— Juan Pablo Montoya expressed his disapproval of Max Verstappen's decision to race a Mercedes at the 24 Nurburgring, suggesting it could be seen as a betrayal by Ford, given their association with Red Bull. He remarked:

“If I were Red Bull and Ford, I would pressure Max not to drive a Mercedes, but a Ford GT3 or something like that and if I were the great boss of Ford, I wouldn't be happy if he were racing with Mercedes and advertising Mercedes.”

— The Colombian highlighted the unusual nature of Verstappen's choice, considering the close ties between Red Bull and Ford, and suggested that pressure should be applied to keep Verstappen aligned with Ford's interests.

— The F1 season has been slow to start, with gaps in the calendar between races, allowing Verstappen to participate in the Nurburgring event alongside Lucas Auer, Dani Juncadella, and Jules Gounon.

— The 24 Nurburgring is scheduled for May 16 and 17, providing Verstappen an opportunity to showcase his skills in a different racing format, despite the potential conflict of interest with his F1 commitments.

Without his 360 and the bad gamble moment to pit under the SC, then forced with a stint of 50 (!) laps on his hards transformed his tyres in junk..
A top-3 was guaranteed (!)

...6 kilo weight cut, 7 new aero parts and and re-built steering system made the difference.
Will need the best discs and pads for the Montreal brake killer circuit and the already gained weight loss will be crucial. The McLaren brake cooling trick from last year has been banned now and it will be interesting how Merc will cope where good brakes will count for a lot rather than battery re-charge.

Unless Max has stipulations in his contract, he is an employee of Red Bull/Ford so yes they can tell him what to do.

Let me rephrase, Like Max would listen. I don't think Red Bull or Ford would risk pissing him off.

I understand what you are saying.
Max is already asking Anti if he can get in his Merc for an FP1.

Max is employee of RBR/Ford.
Nothing more, nothing less.
I know you are his fan, and like to think that F1 revolves around him.
That is hardly the reality. Verstappen is just one of 22 F1 drivers, and can easily be replaced.

If any of my employees was bad-mouthing the company or volunteering for a competitor, he would be disciplined/fired. Regardless of the excuses offered.

Mekies is a puppet director or RBR, and clearly has no real power to do anything about an insolent employee.

Montoya's observations on this matter are not without merit.
On the other hand, Red Bull's Miami updates were extremely successful, and now that the car is more competitive, Debbie Downer Verstappen had STFU.

As far as Ford is concerned, they can't be happy.
But it is highly unlikely that Verstappen will stay with RBR for 2027, so his disloyalty and divisiveness are a very temporary problem.

I'm a LEC Ferrari fan so you are spewing at the wrong person.

Anywho, Max isn't a RBR/Ford employee!!! He is a Red Bull employee. Red Bull is an "independent" team that manufactures its own power units with Ford badging & assistance.

Verstappen's Mercedes is sponsored by Red Bull. If Ford have a problem with it they should take it up with Red Bull. I'm pretty sure Red Bull would tell Ford to pound sand.

Max isn't employed by Ford...See above...Okay I'm done defending Max for the day. I've got my own team and drivers to worry about.

I was just thinking that Max is buddies with Kimi and he might let Max borrow his car.

Have you read his contract?!?
Afaik he has an F1 contract, not a contract to dictate the rest of his life.
We're not talking about him driving another car in F1, we're talking about something he does in his spare time...

Don't get sucked in by something Montoya says...

If any, RBR/ford are shitting their pants to loose Max, as pretty much any other team is trying to get Max under contract. All team bosses know Max is an incredible driver and posseses a unique skillset that no other driver currently has. Just look at last race how he cut through the midfield like it was nothing, making 3 overtakes per lap, and then look at how long Russel (after a pitstop, so on 100% fresh tires was stuck behind Colapinto on worn tyres (who Max had no problem to overtake with a far smaller tyre offset), despite Russel having a vastly superior car compared to the RB.
Every team boss looks for that quality in a driver, and currently only Max has that in abundance.

Thanks.

Old McLearn fan but I’ve mostly switched to Ferrari in the Schumacher era and since.

I was glad to see McLearn being competitive the past couple years.
