Not sure what’s going on here, or if it’s even a bug. But it seems like I can never see the most recent posts on certain threads (have even posted in them and can’t see my own posts). The ones in the screenshot that appear to be unread, but others as well. apptest's user avatarapptest

Let me look into this, when you say you can't see the most recent post, how do you know you can't see it? For example in that what did you do to your m3/m4 today thread, it says last post by mike@... and then you load it and don't see his post? is that how you know, or some other way?

Exactly, I can see from the preview who the most recent is, and when I go into the thread, I can’t see that, and the most recent I can see is fairly old.

Ok and when that is happening in subscriptions, did you load the subscriptions screen a while ago and maybe it didn't update meanwhile posts came in and so what you think is the most recent isn't? or are you seeing this even with fresh loads?

Yeah, happening even when I refresh my subscriptions tab.

Got it. Could you post here or let me know the next time it happens and for which thread and I can look at it in real time and see what’s going on

It seems like it’s always the same threads. The ones in these screenshots that are showing as not read.

Ok great catch, I think I found the issue and should be fixed— I may still do a few refinements here and there today as well and so the fix will come in and out (work and stop working..)

Some of the changes to the (direct) Messages area within to iOS mobile app are confusing, inconsistent, and difficult to use.

Due to a very busy personal and professional schedule, the mobile app has enabled me to participate more. However, the Messages are now frustrating.

Clicking on a thread in INBOX, sometimes shows just replies to me; in other threads, also includes my messages to the other party. It is inconsistent.

Also, clicking Reply, I am unable to now reply to a specific message. I’m basically replying to the thread, with a new messsge, and without quoting the person - because there is also no way to quote the other party.

Also, each separate reply to the thread shows up as separate items in the inbox. When you open either up, it now shows both posts as if there are now two entry points into the same view.

It is confusing.

The old approach was better. Please return to the older approach, or think this through and comprehensively rework it. I’m happy to provide more feedback if helpful.

Also, I cannot clear 2 “unread” messages indicator from the app. All of them in the Inbox and Sent folders are read.

Ok, that seems to work, I can now see all posts in the threads. The new issue is that when I go into the posts, it doesn’t bring me to the most recent viewed post, it brings me back to older posts, sometimes on a previous page.

Recently having trouble with various threads. When clicking on a thread with a new post it doesn't take me to the unread post, instead it takes me to a random earlier post and I have to scroll down to the new post. Sometimes it will take me to an earlier page. it's very random.

Also, sometimes when I have already looked at the last post in a thread it will still be bolded as if I hadn't already viewed the last post in that thread.

Did you guys notice if the problem you are seeing just started yesterday/today?

I’m not seeing that issue today. When I go into a thread, it seems to be taking me to where I left off/most recent post.

Been doing it for a few days and it’s still doing it for me.

Here's where it takes me in this thread when I click on it:

Ok let me ask, how do you get into those threads, meaning are you loading them from the subscriptions screen (which is loaded from the forums tab vs the ... more tab) or for example from the myForums screen or another example from the regular forum list in the forum tab and navigating through the various subforms

I go to All Forums, go to my forum (1 series E82/E88), go to Off-Topic Discussions Board, and select a thread.

Happening now, but seems like it’s only this thread.

Ok guys, I just instituted a fix, hopefully it starts working for you again. it might take two loads to get back into sync for you guys incase your last viewed post wasn't recorded during the time it was broken

is the fix in a new version cuz i'm still seeing version 7.1.0, and the issue is still there where i go to MyForums, select a forum, tap on an unread thread, but it takes me to the first comment on top of the page (not the latest/most recent comment). if i back out of that thread, re-select it again, THEN it takes me to the latest/most recent comment

a similar "scrolling/landing" issue is this: i would post a comment, but then later edit it. after submitting the edit, it would take me to the first post on top of the page, not my comment that i just edited (yes, it's the latest/most recent comment), so i have to scroll down to it
