eBay is a great place to buy OEM parts....
But make sure you buy "OEM" BMW parts. A lot of BMW dealers advertise on eBay, because it's a great medium for advertising their parts. I've recently purchased an Mperformance keyfob cover, M Valve stem caps from a dealer in NJ.
With that said though, I'm not sure there is a black emblem set for our cars yet.... at least not through BMW. I haven't seen any.
buy from China? Well... it's hit or miss. Usually miss if you wait long enough as you've seen. You could always have them powdercoated, electroplated, ionized, or even plasti-dipped for a unique effect.
