I'm not a wrap professional..... but there's a couple reasons I think you should go with paint:

1) There are "negative" areas on the diffuser, which means the wrap would have to be "stretched in", versus "stretched out". I imagine this is why your wrapper was hesitant. I suspect the chance of failure is much higher.

2) you will never find an exact match for the area above the diffuser. It's not "black".... it's gray, and it's the only thing on the car that is that colr (weird, right?) Paint.... you can match exactly.

I would recommend you either have the diffuser painted grey to match the upper bumper area...... or just have them both painted whatever color you want.
