I'll still need space in the 3rd row though. What does the 3rd row look like if the 2nd row is pushed back? Can a person even sit back there?

Can the second row really be pushed back further than a fixed rear seat? I thought depth was the same it is just that it could go forward when needed?

i'll take some measurements when i get home. i'll put my drivers seat all the way back (multi-contour seat) and measure the distance with the second row all the way back and all the way forward. if one of you with the 2 row x5 can take a similar measurement please do so for comparision

so with the drivers seat all the way back (multi-contour seat) i took two measurements:
1- 2nd row all the way forward; 3 inches of legroom 2- 2nd row all the way backwards; 6 inches of legroom so there is 3 inches of travel in the 2nd row if somebody can please do the same measurement in their 2 row x5 (ideally with multi-contour seat) please do. put the drivers seat all the way back and measure the distance from the longest part of the 2nd row seat to the back of the drivers seat

I ran out and did a quick measurement from the front of the rear seat to the vent control dial in the center console and came up with approximately 8.5 inches.

Very good, so the sliding seats could get an extra 1 inch of space. What we need now is more owners to take the same measurements to get a better sample size and make sure other factors such as leather type are not coming into play (although I doubt that).

Perfect space!
When I saw the space used for storing the package cover I knew that I had a new use for the hidden spot. I rolled up the lead apron and vest that I use for radiation protection and they fit perfectly!
