Is the consensus that straight pipes are noticeably louder? |

Hard for me to say. Its difficult to know when listening to clips online. I can't imagine one is louder then the other but would agree the sound pitch would be slightly different. I like how its now loud when I want it loud and can still be quiet enough when needed.

I can't tell from the pictures, but do the two chambers/pipes mix in this configuration/stock resonator or are they more or less two resonated straight pipes next to each other where they gases don't mix from one to the other?

Straight pipes or x-pipe won't make an audible difference as the stock exhaust muffler in the back is doing it's job very well.
The '22 US resonator has an x-pipe like setup where two pipes are merging in it through an opening like in an x-pipe but it is not a full crossover as the opening is very small.

You have any photos of the underside of the X5? Would love to see that. Just picked up a 2023 X5 M50 and I like the sound of your exhaust...TIA

Heres my experience on straight piping my 21 X5 M50i
1. It's not very expensive, $160 at the exhaust shop I did it at 2. There is a significant difference, worth it if you want that raspy v8 sound like a Trackhawk or SRT Jeep 3. In terms of rasp, valves won't really do much. Sport plus mode and shifter in manual setting will give you more frequent and louder burbles while comfort will have the same raspiness as sports plus even in the valves are closed, no burbles. 4. Real rasp is from around 2nd to 4th gear all the way through the RPM's 6. Don't notice any drone 5. It's all opinion so if you don't like it, you can go for a different pipe or just put the original resonator back on |

I found the "ultra quite resonators", but not sure where I would go for custom. Or is custom something I really need?

Here’s my build: res delete and cat back custom exhaust. I’ll post some sound clips shortly. Using OEM flaps set to full time open with BimmerLink.

Look for exhaust shops that advertise that they do custom work or sell aftermarket exhaust brands. Sometimes even local Meineke stores are doing custom work.

How does the Racechip feel on the 50i engine? A friend of mine wants a little more torque off the line and mid range but since I have a tune and not Racechip, I could not answer this.

I feel as though it is giving me a bit more power.. I did not save it on Dragy, but the 0-60 time was 3.5s, and someone else posted his results at 3.6s.

Thanks. You do not sound very enthused about the amount of extra power though.
