What do you code in/out of your BMW?
So I am mainly just curious and this is a general question for everyone. What do you code in/out of your BMW? Obviously its a popular topic and there must be things you like or don't like that you want to change. I did some changes on my previous car ( non-BMW) and probably will find things on the new one(already found one thing I would like to change), but curious to what people are changing.

Basically I code out all the startup warnings and alerts, I turn off the seat belt audio and only have it when I start the vehicle. I also code in changes to my instrument panel to the way I like it and turn on 3 (default) to 5 blinker counts on turn signal. I also make sure everything else is as it should be which it usually is.
After that I pretty much leave it alone. All of those changes are creature comforts for me. |

Sp basically creature comforts and preferences. Is that all that can be done that the end user has access to? Don't get me wrong as most of the programming I did on my previous car was creature comforts. On my old car ( non BMW) it would honk the horn three somewhat medium-ish length times if I got out of the car while it was running and shut the door to go do something. Kind of annoying as I get up early for work and it was annoying me and bugging my neighbors. I was able to disable the alert. The X5 shuts itself off and I want to disable that for sure.

I keep a spreadsheet of my changes and then apply them after an update. Mine are:
Driving Mode - Adaptive Brake Force Display - Medium Brake Force Speed - 20km/h One Touch Signal 5 Times - active Warning on startup - not active Tire Temp - active On the M340i I also add: ASS - Disable Coding for Anti-Dazzle - likely will add to the X5 if I don't get it VO coded

I have never had someone look and after our discussion about it the other year assume it doesn't but code it just in case it does at some point.

Ok. It seems like a lot of people are coding off the warning at startup. What is this warning at startup? Is it the audio tone that plays or something on the display? I wouldn't mind turning that audio chime on startup off for damn sure.

What does the Brake Force settings actually do? By blinking do you mean the hazard lights flash if you perform some hard braking?

It is the warning that you see on the control display.

Thanks TurtleBoy So its flashing tail lights AS the vehicle is braking. I haven't really paid attention to warnings during start up. I am usually putting on my seat belt, so Im not looking at the displays.

Did you change the setting? The coding is to allow the option for 5 blinks, you need to go into settings and enable it.

So I'm also curious as to which plug or receiver that people are using as well. I was looking at the OBD Link CX from bimmercode, but didnt know if it was garbage or if I should be looking at a different one.

Hardwire
The best way to use Bimmercode is to hardware. The coding is so fast this way. ENET Cable with an Ethernet adapter that is USB-C or Lighting; depending if phone or tablet device can use. Some coding features requires hardware.

Ok. The one thing that seems to have been mentioned is now irritating me. The warnings on start up. Odd thing is, I can't seem to find it in the "easy" programming mode. Is it under Expert? Can someone point it out for me please? The other thing I want to enable is the "shut off iDrive unit when driver door is opened."

Shutting down the electronics when the door is opened is a standard setting in iDrive.
Warning on Startup is in the Head Unit.
