Replace Battery warning on new X5- help please!

I received my 30d X5 mid April when it went for full Xpel PPF.

I only got it back this week and they have let the battery go to a low level that it is showing a warning on the instrument panel 'Replace Battery'. It is starting and running fine, the start / stop is operating fine and I have had it on a long cruise. The current mileage is only 160.

Apart from going to the dealer, any suggestions on how to reset or cancel the battery warning. Surely its not possible for the battery to be damaged, is it ???

Any suggestions very welcomed.

I would put it on a battery charger and let the charger go through all the cycles to bring the battery back to its proper state of charge. This may take up to three or so days of continuous charging. Once done, I believe the replace battery message will automatically disappear.
To answer your second question, yes it's possible to damage the battery by letting it drain down to a low state of charge. We're talking about the 12v AGM battery under the cargo floor. There are a lot of battery posts on the forum, you might want to do a search and just read through a few of them but in the meantime, get yours on a charger.

That is unfortunately not uncommon to have happen when getting PPF/tinting done. Some folks have had it replaced under warranty and I think some have just charged it and the error went away. You may want to try using a charger before taking it to the dealer.

If you put it on a "charger" instead of a maintainer be sure to monitor it closely as you can overcharge the battery and destroy it. I would try a smart maintainer like a CTEK first and see if it will bring it back. If it is completely depleted it might not but it is worth a try.

What is it about PPF that drains the battery?

Most likely its the fact that the doors, hatch etc are open for long periods of time, the dome lights are on but they don't connect a battery tender to the car and they have it for up to a week doing this. Sure the dome lights will time out after a while but they go on again the next time and every time the doors are opened and left open while the installer continues the process.

This...there's lots of opening and closing during the installation. I didnt think this was an issue, but I was surprised to see the warning...BTW, PPF installer did keep mine for about 3-4 days.
