There are body shops out there that would fool you with their work. I know...I've had them do stuff in the interest of not pulling my hair out over rock chips and road wear. Nobody will ever be able to tell unless this is some high end auction car in 2060 going for millions.

Plus the paint on these modern BMWs is terrible anyways. The original paint on high wear areas is going to look like a nightmare after 10-15 years.

i agree with this.

There is a body shop in my area that only works on high end exotics and they are known for better work than what factory is.. But they are very $$$.

The problem with dealer paint shops is, 98% of all independently owned BMW dealers own their own paint shop that they farm their body work and paint out to. Those paint shops owned by the dealer do work for as cheap as possible to make as much as possible while turning over all the mass volume of work sent to them by their dealership. This is a very common practice.. So if you're expecting the best work, or factory like work, Don't count on it for a minute.

The only way I would do this replacement is if BMW allowed me to take this to a body shop of my choice, which would end up at the best shop in my state and like I said, they are not cheap. But their work is the best around. There is no way BMW would pay for that...

Which is why I would honestly leave well enough alone. Chances are, you will get the car back and something else about the paintjob or new bumper would bother you. Just my 2 cents.

Actually I believe the clearcoat will prevent color fade. And even factory paint needs to be mixed. Bmw tells me the bumpers are painted separately from the frame even at the factory.

Sure, we can deal with the dimples, but why shouldn't we have a car without them? Worst case, the new bumper paint isn't perfect, and we have the old bumper reinstalled, I guess.

Would this be a problem that could be fixed thru PDR? I've never had PDR done on a bumper and not sure if that's possible, just thinking if it is possible that would be a better fix potentially than a new bumper repainted

Just checked my 2015 M4 convertible (delivered end of November) and I don't see it. Mine is Mineral White, and I wonder if it is more noticeable on darker colored cars?

Anyone with these dimples take any action? My dealer is still offering to replace and have it painted to my satisfaction, but I'm waiting to see a sample of the paint.
