I got the notification to do the software update a while back and I remember seeing a thread about a member having their car bricked during the process, so I decided to just turn off updates and not do it.

On the bright side, you were able to get to the dealer and the car wasn't totally bricked.

The dealer said it happens often. Not sure if it’s true or he was just trying to make me feel better.

It’s all good. Software updated, oil changed plus 2 recalls done. I’m very happy I got the loaner. When I was there picking up someone else was trying to get a loaner but was being told they are backed up and were 20 appointments in the hole for loaners. Thank you to Open Road BMW!

Well, here we go again. Less than 2 weeks since they fixed the failed software update and it won’t start again. Got the vehicle will start in 10 minutes. Sitting in the car waiting…..

And now a brake boost message after it started. So much for my plans this weekend.

I'm still guessing a partially discharged battery.

Do you do a lot of short trips? Perhaps the battery isn't properly charged?

Agree on the battery - do you have anything plugged in? Radar detector etc that may be a parasitic drain? Another thought, is BT keeping something active?

My commute is 16 miles each way. Car was sitting since Friday night. I don’t have anything plugged in. Help the challenged one - What would bluetooth keep running? I don’t use any of the tech stuff. No carplay. No apps. Thanks all.

Maybe all those false uneven surface warnings are sucking the battery dry? LOL.

That doesn't make sense. Sorry, definitely something strange going on with your car. Sometimes I think there is TOO much tech in these cars.

By the way, a bit off topic but I heard someone you know got a B8? Don't remember where I read or heard that.

Yes. My brother did. He picked it up Friday. I haven’t seen it yet. Carbon Black with the red/black interior. I’m not sure which trim he chose. I’ll posts pics somewhere when I get them.

Well, I guess we’re getting towed to the dealer tomorrow. Got it started this morning after the 10 minute countdown. I had to go to the store. I got a left highbeam malfunction warning. Came out of store, started ok. Then a M1 cannot be activated message. Drove off ok, then rough idle at a light, drivetrain malfunction and CEL and then stalled. Started up and made it home ok. I’m so glad I am fortunate to drive new cars so I don’t have to worry about reliability.

I’m going to sit outside and read a book. Have a good all.

Wow, that really sucks. Something crazy going on with your vehicle to be sure. Let us know how it turns out.

One last suggestion. Take a look at the battery connections an the fuses (make sure fuses are seated).

Flat bedded to dealer this morning. We shall see. SA did say he doubted it was just the battery throwing all those malfunctions.

Could be a bad relay or even ecu.

The battery was changed yesterday but it was still throwing errors. They said they would reprogram last night and hopefully will have some info for me midday today.

The saga continues. They don't know what it is. Possibly a module so they are switching one out from another X6M to see if that is the fix. They opened a case with BMW to see what they say.

I hate it when a real electrical breakdown happens. BMW techs these days can't figure anything out unless its a blatant code on their scanner.

I did ask for an experienced tech and not some newbie. SA assured me they have a master tech on it. I’ve been going to this dealer for 20+ years and they always do the right thing. They did call me to come in and swap loaners so I’ll have an X5 instead of a 3 series.

And I did ask them about the relays and ECU.

Have I mentioned yet I’d be happy with a carburetor and hydraulic steering and brakes instead off all this tech? This is exactly why I will never have a vehicle out of warranty as much as I think I should have never got out of my 2013 X6 M. What a beast.

Thank you.
