It is logical move for most Chinese buyers to opt for LWB versions because such car is usually the family hauler if not the only car in the family(although rare because if you are going for a bmw premium model you would have at least one more cars in the family, this applies more to X1 and 3 series buyers), can't hurt to have more spaces in the back for family eh? BMW attempts to use the local-Tiexi-produced LWB X5 to gain an advantage in the hot luxury SUV market, this means possible better quality, more luxury features, much less production time and less taxes on the car. And in the end, lots of Chinese buyers would consider the space as a priority when shopping for cars(possibly price, brand, and acceleration being next) as this is more of a large purchase than what is generally observed in the States. Fun fact: A majority of X1 top-spec LWB sales in China are due to the fact of lacking rear-rooms in the RWD-not-LWBed X3. I can go into more details if anyone here wanted to hear the stories but let's end here first Last edited by BTWCD; 10-25-2022 at 08:53 PM.. |

Very tasteful mods, well done Sir!
The dimensions look a bit odd on the X5… but guess you get used to it. |

We'll put 20,000 miles on it this year hauling kids around and hitting road trips. It's great but I miss the refinement of a BMW - hopefully in 4-5 years when the oldest is driving we can downsize. Which is why I keep checking back to see how people like the LCI. For reference - quick google comparison. Tahoe vs. X7 Front Head Room: 42.3 41.9 Front Legroom: 44.5 39.8 Front Shoulder Room: 66 60 Second-row Head Room: 38.9 39.9 Second-row Legroom: 42 37.6 Second-row Shoulder Room: 64.8 58.1 Third-row Head Room: 38.2 36.6 Third-row Legroom: 34.9 33.3 Third-row Shoulder Room: 62.7 47.9 Cargo Volume to Seat 1: 122.9 90.4 Cargo Volume to Seat 2: 72.6 48.6 Cargo Volume to Seat 3: 25.5 12.8 Last edited by bjcarls; 10-25-2022 at 04:13 PM.. |

Its shorter then the G12 750i I replaced. Its for people who want a bit more space and a bit more luxury than the X5 has to offer in the US. If you really want space you need to go with the Escalade/Tahoe, Navigator, Grand Wagoneer type vehicle. They are much bigger.

yes its a 4 banger as its for the wife...i beleive it doesnt make a big diff on installing the x5m brace as its just bolt on without any modification except u need to change the intake inlet to remove the oem air reservoir. the front brace does make a big difference on cornering though

They does make a sense especially in China, when you are buying an X1 surely you are not in the position to consider driving dynamics, and with your drive being much city driving/highway cruising I can't see the benefit of a short wheel base except the ease for parking. Such things matter more on say a 3 series, but some people wanted to have a 3 series while using that as 'family car', hence they would go for 3 series LWB—it makes their decision easier! |

I ask that for all LWB models. Not just by BMW but also Audi and such.
