I've had to remove enough over the years that it made sense to spend $15 on a tool like this. With a little lubricant and this tool, they pop right out. You can find them on Amazon.

Very interesting. I'm not sure about how much they stick out, but I like that they'll prevent the exhaust shrouds from flaking off, like it starting to happen with many owners.

Did anyone else notice a significant reduction in exhaust volume after installing the tips? I just had mine put on yesterday and it's much quieter, which is not cool.

I ordered from the same guy as Squirble and with his exact measurements. 2 weeks later they arrived perfect. I did cut them down a bit to slide in deeper but no issues. Love the look
Thanks for the OP help with the write up and proper hangar, Squirble for the measurements of his tips. DB |

The trapezoid outlet itself is supposed to be the "exhaust" tip with the real rips recessed behind it. You are basically putting round pegs into square holes with this design. In my honest opinion, if you want to make it look good and not tacky/DIY, just buy an M bumper cover which has space for the dual dual setup. Then buy the M sport exhaust off a member here who installed an Akrapovic system and has no use for their OEM exhaust anymore. |

It looks good on the trackhawk because it has room. There's nothing hugging them, just open space on the rear fascia. On the M50i it looks so forced since its that trapezoid is supposed to be the "exhaust" and now you're forcing 2 thick, small pipes out of it.

well I finally got the correct tips in that I ordered. It took a little while to make it happen.

For all those that added the round tips, I like it. BMW fell short, literally, not including them. Everyone that has added them, are they still in place? Has anyone noticed any long term ill side effects from the addition?

Sometimes people with perfect vision are blind.
The tips on the X7 look so weird and forced. Might as well throw on some Viper stripes. Last edited by BMWBear; 09-23-2021 at 07:40 PM.. |
