anyone know the difference between BimmerLink and BimmerCode? does one have more coding options over the other?

Yes, there is a difference in coding options: BimmerLink has none :-). BimmerLink is about display and logging of many operational parameters like voltages and airflow. It does have a few controls and, for the record, exhaust flap control does work (but the engine must be running). But none of the controls are permanent ie none are coded.

Took her for a long spin, at various speeds, and the km/h readout on the HUD, and the digital speed readout in the cluster perfectly matched the needle scale. Must admit love the Alpina instrument cluster, it's damn awesome, also shows up to 340km/h on the speed scale. I'd love to test the needle up that end ! |

Do you have the Alpina logo all the time at the top center or just appears when you shut off the engine?

I agree, I use blue ambient lighting as well, so the Alpina scheme in the cluster matches perfectly. Was switching between the Alpina and M Instrument cluster trying to work out which one I liked more. Found the M fonts a little small, and to be honest "boring" compared to the Alpina design. The programmable nature of the instrument cluster in the X5 is awesome and has so much potential. I dont understand why BMW doesn't make some Instrument cluster options available for people through iDrive settings?? Seems like to me they're using and exposing to us as Customers a very small % of the capabilities the system is capable of, especially around customisation aspects. I'm on 07/2019.49, and 2.11.0-6028 (Android) of Bimmercode, still can't code the Driver Assist view in the cluster (my car is a Jan 2019 build). |

People and groups at BMW responsible for software do not have BMW heritage of performance, (pretty good) reliability, and individuality. Instead, they focus on fufu nonsense like "Caring Car" and "Experience Modes". Actually, I'd rather if they focused on reliability first.

I totally agree with you regarding the M cluster design, too simple, boring and when you switch to Sport or Comfort, the changes are hard to notice, I used it for a couple of days and when i went to recode the standard one, luckily found the Alpina during that process, by the way when i was using the ///M cluster I notice the tachometer on the HUD disappear Also i agree that BMW could give more access to personalization of the cars via iDrive My car was manufactured on August 2nd 2019 but can't find the software installed on my car

Updated tonight coded the m gauges which I like, no logo under camera though you have to go into expert mode then 3001 then logo_xxx forget what it was and lists all logos can turn on ///m or X5 ///m lots of choices trie d both logos and works tried the ///m40i one and didn’t work.
Also coded the assisted driving view in expert mode and now have the checkbox to turn it on, have not tried it yet though in traffic. Added these to turn it on code description="Enable Assisted Driver View [req 2019/07.xx+]" group 3000 SICHT_ABSICHT_ENABLE aktiv CB_FZG_UMGEBUNG_FAS aktiv CB_PRESELECT_NAVI_ANSICHT_FZG_UMGEBUNG aktiv Instructions say to add this one below but I didn’t have it and found a post on a German forum stating the same but it worked fine without it group 3007 PIA_FZG_UMGEBUNG_FAS aktiv
