I read some people didn't get touchscreen and there was a gas tank recall already but recently most said they were getting them..

I originally placed my order on 1-4 but dealer had to finegle an allocation to get me in faster so I do have a build number. I live in California so hope it won't take as long as some of what I am reading. Interested again to see if everyone is getting the touchscreens.

This came off my vehicle inquiry report from the dealer

Welcome to the forum. The touchscreen delete was for a short period of time in Oct/Nov. It came back around Nov. 17th and we have not seen one built without it since. The original announcement was for the 4th quarter of 21 so wouldn't apply anymore.

picked up mine on 1/27 it came with touch screen, you should be safe there!

Ask your dealer to provide you the VIN asap, then you can find out about touch by option codes
6UX - iDrive controller without the touch function
6UY - deletion of touchscreen (main infotainment display)

That's purely coincidental. The option codes are unrelated to the VIN.

I think that number designates the country of build so the US.

I pick my X5 up in 2 weeks time and they have confirmed the touch screen is in place. The chip shortage is a lot better now they said.

It means nothing. I'm talking not about your VIN, I'm talking about set of options that include your VIN, got it?
You can check the list of options using your VIN HERE
So just check your VIN and if you don't find 6UX and/or 6UY codes, then you are lucky, your display and iDrive controller will be with a touchscreen

You are doing great with your English, nothing to worry about.

A VIN decoder will only work once the vehicle has been completed. While in general there is no point in doing so, the best way for a person (in the US) to see all options included in a build prior to it being completed is to use the developer tools in Safari and Chrome.

Edit: I just read that BMW closed the hole and the above prices does not work anymore for vehicles in production. I have not tested that out though but be aware it may not work.

I see, it's clear. I thought your vehicle is complete. Mine was produced couple weeks ago, 8th of January and VIN already could be decoded now

Guess that this method of VIN decoding is not proper, because the decoding result may contain only those option codes that are involved in car's picture formation, i.e. external (body type, body color, wheels design, brake caliper's color, M aerodynamics package, sun protection glazing, shadow line, etc.) and does not include a full set of options.
Maybe I'm wrong, it's just my assumption.

No, that is not correct. That method revealed every option associated with the VIN.

and the answer was shocking for me. I was hardly convinced myself paying 75k for my X5 with full options but HK sound system; however, no touchscreen is a deal-breaker for me. I canceled my order for which I was waiting for a allocation for last 3 weeks.
Actually, what the dealer told me was interesting: BMW stops touchscreen for X5 and X7 at all. It is not going to come back. If I had not checked myself online, I was going to keep my order. After finding out it is due to the chip shortage, I canceled. I have all features in my 2017 X5.

Assuming you are serious, your dealer has no clue what is going on. The touchscreens were only deleted for a short period last fall. Since around Nov. 17th all X5s have had the touchscreen and there is nothing anywhere saying that they are being pulled now.
