How many of you will upgrade to LCI?
Curious to find out who’s thinking of trading in their current G05 for the upcoming LCI (maybe some of you already have). Whether it’s from the 45e to 50e, M50 to M60, or just wanting the new capabilities / features with iDrive 8.5 or whatever else the LCI has to offer.

Decided to wait and see what the G65 will be like. If not interesting to me then will grab a last year G05.

Price is not right for me for the 50e. Mostly related to tax credit eligibility. So no, I'll live.

Didn't someone do a poll on this in the last week or two?
Anyway, to answer the OP: hell no. |

Good point TB! I just got my 45e and would wait until the G65 comes out but if it's not that great, then I may just opt for the last year of the G05 LCI as well.

Yes, the G65 will start production in December of 2026. Knowing me I will probably end up getting an M60i in a couple of years but for right now the plan is waiting.

Any predictions on what it might be like? Do you think they might put a 4cyl in the X5, get rid of the 8cyl? All electric? Bigger than current model w more second row space? Will there be a iX5 (not hydrogen) be all electric?

It will be on the CLAR platform so the ICE, hybrid and EV will share the same hardware just like the i4 and i7 does. I wouldn't think they would put an 4cyl in it and doubt they will get rid of the 8cyl but it is too early to tell at this point.

Definitely not, I have a M50i arriving next month, ordered to avoid the buttonless LCI. Can't see the buttons reappearing on G65 so will probably be looking elsewhere.

Same here. I picked up my M50i at the end of January. Don't want to have anything to do with the LCI. Maybe by the time I'm ready to get a new X5, BMW will have a better designed X5.

We leased a 2020 X5 40i. We bought into the brand since 2016 and loved everything about these vehicles. So, I did a lot of homework and it seemed, at least for us, leasing and getting a new one every three years made a lot of sense. And since it was a lease, I optioned it up. Two weeks after delivery, the world changed forever. Suffice it to say, I cannot build a new X5 with a 6 cylinder engine with the same or better options as were available just a couple of years ago.
Nevermind that iDrive 8 offers me nothing I'd consider an advancement, since they got rid of as most of the most used buttons that I rely on, and think is safer to fiddle with while driving and still be safe. The only feature I'd like to have is 'highway assistant' since I do a lot more traveling from my home to see my parents now than I originally envisioned. But even then, the active driving assistant that was available in 2020 is more than adequate. So currently I have no reason to upgrade. I dont see anything new that I like and I dont want to upgrade just for the sake of getting something new. I could even forgive the price hikes and the loss of some of these options that I love. I cannot get past them taking the best infotainment system implementation in the business and ruining it to keep up with the likes of Tesla... a software company masquerading as a car company. |

Yep, ordered a 50e to replace the 45e. I'm not afraid of change and new tech, even if the dash looks tacky with the <<<X5>>> It will grow on me
I don't get what people have about the widescreen or less buttons. Even the useless shifter is gone Even in the beginning of the G05 people were nagging about the huge grill and nav display that was on the dash and not in the dash. |

It’s just mind blowing with the narrative around the tax credit being a justification. Even more so with those who ordered 45e’s in Q1 of 2023. That tax credit will be canceled out by depreciation.

Good point! I plan to move to the 50e from my 2020 X5 when I'm sure I will get iDrive 8.5. Two years from now iDrive 7 will be like iDrive 6 is today...old technology.

I pulled the trigger. So far the not me's have all mentioned the iDrive8/no buttons as a major negative roadblock. Not me, I think it looks great and the videos of its operation are awesome. That said, it's the S68 and new transmission that are for me the most important new additions. The freshened exterior isn't too shabby either. I usually like the latest and greatest so what do I know.

I don't have a problem with the shifter going to buttons since that is what we have now (all shifts done by electronics) but with a really weird button (the shifter), but I have not seen them in person yet. I just hope they did a good job with the placement of the buttons. Wonder why the shifter buttons weren't also removed and added to the menus.
