'Replace battery'

My car is throwing this code despite the battery being fine. It must've been low from delivery and after getting wrapping it likely drained sitting for a week. I can't clear the code with my OBDII scanner and my dealer is closed until Monday any ideas?

I'd put it on a battery tender for 24 hours. The code might clear once the battery is fully charged. good luck.

I drove 300 miles home and still have the code so it's probably fully charged

Well, I guess a trip to the dealer is next. Sorry, I hope your dealer is closer than mine.

It’s going to be a long Sunday for you, not being able to see your odometer.

Wait so they actually need to replace your battery? Was it confirmed to be bad? Who's paying for it?

CA looked at the dash message, said they will replace. Appointment made for next week.

What happens on the car if you pull the battery cable off, do all the electronics reboot?

battery is very hard to access it's behind a plastic cover and even when you take that off good luck getting a wrench near where you need it. I had it on a battery tender for 5 hours before driving home too.

Maybe mine will be cool like that or just clear the code if the battery is fine. What's strange is I can clear the code when the car is in diagnostic mode but it immediately throws the same code once I start the engine. This tells me there's likely a problem or it's just German

Same on mine. SA said drive it for a few days if it still is there we'll replace it. And they did.

G05 uses two batteries.... One in the trunk and one in the engine compartment. Depending on your features, the engine compartment Aux battery is either AGM or Lithium.

From the training manual:

• AGM starter battery in the luggage compartment with 90 Ah or 105 Ah
• Auxiliary AGM battery in the engine compartment with 60 Ah
OR
• Lithium ion auxiliary battery in the engine compartment with 10 Ah

An auxiliary battery in the engine compartment is used to provide assistance for the vehicle electrical system.

On vehicles with electric active roll stabilization, the two anti-roll bar actuators are also supplied with power by a 60 Ah AGM battery.

In vehicles without active roll stabilization; a 10 Ah lithium ion battery is installed parallel to the AGM battery in the luggage compartment.

If you ever need to jump start yourself or someone else... or want to use a battery tender... there is a red cap covered post for positive and and good ground point will work for the negative point - the owners manual identifies a good grounding point.

See this thread: https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1573753

The same thing have happened to me and the OP of that thread.

AndroidRobot, did the guys who did your ppf,/ceramic/tint leave the key inside the car or never turn the car completely off? Even if you push the start/stop button the car's electronics will still stay on unless you lock the car and walk away. If you have the doors open for hours per day, a few days in a row, the battery will die.

There's a function to "turn off vehicle" if you push up on the iDrive knob, scroll all the way to the right, you'll see an option to turn everything off.

I had the same red "Replace Battery" warning that wouldn't go away. When I took it in, my SA said it wouldn't hold a charge. He also said they can see literally every instance you turn the car on, how long it stayed on, and whether the ignition was on or not. For example, if you go to your car, get in, sit down and customize your widgets for 4 minutes then leave without ever starting the engine, it will get logged. They see all this the moment they hook the car up to their computer, so, you can't really lie to them.

My SA also said batteries are not covered under warranty cuz they're normal wear and tear items, but he replaced mine anyway cuz the car was only a week old. BMW batteries are not cheap and you'd have to get them "programmed" to your vehicle.

It's a good idea for people who have their G05's worked on to let their installers know how to turn off all the car's electronics, since there's so much of it, so that the car's battery won't get completely drained.

They did not leave the cars accessory power on but when the hood is open the car will beep constantly at you for example. If I had to guess the cars battery wasn't fully charged from the start and the little time doors were open ended up causing an issue. I hope my dealer replaces it or fixes the issue without telling me to buy a battery on my week old car

They should. From what I've seen, all the cases where this have happened, the dealers have resolved it by replacing the battery. I'm hoping yours will be the same.
