Just Hit : (

Girl not paying attention at the gas station decides to ram me with the front of her Ford Escape. $6k in damage to my car with 2,500 miles on it that I purchased not leased. Here’s the kicker, she’s driving her friends companies car so they’re determining if she’s covered or not. Fun times. The wheel took the majority of the hit. Now the fun part! 8 week wait for parts SMH

Luckily it is since I need to wait so long for parts. Funny part was I had just left the car wash and was on the way home to wax it to prepare for salt on the road season. Ohhhh irony

I am thinking that she needed to look at a new cute tik tok video or something at the time she hit you....

Sorry to hear. Since its a purchase, look into a diminished value claim. Some states require you actually trade it to get the dollars - but when I was in LA I successfully got 3.

1x the other ins company did it so i wouldn't sue as the guy who side-swiped me fled the scene and the second the guy who hit me was 85 on an expired license.

In both cases they didn't want me to sue.

Third time the girl was on phone and DUId.

Man I'm sorry - I've the same color, same wheels...and 2k miles as well. And I was pissed at getting a rock/window chip last week (which was decently repaired)...

Good luck with it. I hate other drives (you guys not included).

Looks drivable though in the meanwhile right? Seems like the damage to the car is mostly aesthetic and same to wheel? Would suck to get a non equivalent loaner for 8+ weeks.

Oh man, that sucks! So sorry that you have to deal with all this aggravation. Unbelievable how reckless certain people can be. Good thing you can at least still drive your car while waiting for parts.

Sorry to hear. So many people staring at their phones as they leave gas stations.

Would uninsured driver coverage pay for it if her friend's company's policy doesn't pay for it?

So just starting to get the ball rolling on parts orders. Thankfully is drivable but alignment is a bit off. Sucks it seems they’re taking the entire side of the car apart to paint and blend etc… as for insurance I’m still waiting to hear. If she’s not covered I’m just out $1k deductible but would not be able to get a diminished value claim is my understanding. It’s honestly more annoying with all the phone calls and appointments than anything else. I was hoping to keep the car about 5 years and by that time I think the mark on the car history won’t be so terrible. Apparently the headlights are about $4,500 a piece and nearly impossible to get at the moment so if there is a bright side at least that wasn’t damaged!

Agree with the diminished value. My 535 got hit in the driver's door. All of the damage was cosmetic - dents and paint. When I traded it, it knocked almost $5K off the trade (preCOVID).

Good luck!

What a bummer.

Make sure to have steering components checked. A lady hit my wife's G05 front wheel and there was a bunch of damage.

Regarding coverage: Don't you have uninsured motorist coverage?

Unfortunately diminished value claims are extremely difficult. I don't want to discourage you but you might end up losing a lot in time and money from this.

Sucks; I'm sorry buddy. Hopefully it will get better soon.

Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist Coverage is liability and medical insurance not collision, depending on the state.

You can always go after the individual (or maybe even the owner of the other car) if their insurance is insufficient. If they have a problem with that, they should have thought hard about liability coverage prior to operating someone else's vehicle (or loaning a vehicle to someone else).

Consult a lawyer - you don't have to take a loss for someone else's fault. If it were me, I'd even go after them to put me in an equivalent car while mine was being fixed.

Sorry to hear. Good luck with the repair. I wouldn't be too worried about the value. My trade in had hx of damages and some dealers wanted to use that to low ball my value. The one that I ended buying this G05 actually paid more. They did mention about the hx but regardless paid more. On the other hand, it may not a bad idea to get risk of it once the time is right. Once hit, it tends to get hit again for some reason (from my experience).

If you have to go through your own insurance, have them do subrogation against the driver after the repair. Eventually you will get your $1000 deductible back (after she has repaid the claim total your insurance paid out). They may be able to take her license if she doesn't pay (varies from state to state). You don't have to waste any time with it either, just ask if you have to file through your own policy.

SO SO sorry to hear this! I consider myself a careful and defensive driver, but still got hit twice by distracted female drivers. First time I got T-boned by a left turn Ford SUV, I lost my Solara. Second time my Cadillac was rear ended by a Hyundai sedan while I was waiting for red light. The driver was so distracted by her phone and dog. Look on the bright side, it's not too bad as long as people are safe. But I really hate this no matter how careful you drive, you will be involved in some accidents during lifetime, more or less.

When I learned to drive, I was taught to stay away from luxury cars. Unfortunately not everyone was taught so. I hope you can get compensatory damages to cover your loss.

Man I really feel your pain. Sending you positive vibes from MN. Look on the bright side tho…now the universe owes you one. Buy a lottery ticket soon!

On a side note, I have two teenage daughters and one just has her learners permit. I grill into them my cardinal sin- texting and driving. MN requires 50 hrs of driving before the can get their license…I strive for 150+ hrs.

Also, after reading a few of the posts above, I see just as many young men driving like idiots as young woman- just saying.
