The new ones? Soak them in some soapy water (not lubricant, because it's bad for poly).... and just slide them in. You don't even need tools. Just do one side at a time. Don't remove both rear hangers at once. Remove one, replace it.... then move to the other side. |

Looks good. They are going to fall off and/or damage your OEM exhaust shroud though. At least replace the rubber hangers with poly ones. It's not hard to do.

Thanks to the OP for posting this. I just ordered the exhaust hangers and I'm looking at these, https://www.ebay.com/itm/203168820370?ul_noapp=true. I waiting on the vendor to let me know if they offer them in all black in the 60mm ID and 80mm OD.

However, I'm about 99.999% positive that the answer is "no" regarding those tips you've chosen. If they do, please let me know, because I must have looked at 100 different sellers that offer tips like that, and none of them were the right size. |

With them, the exhaust will hang freely dead center between the exhaust bezels. Without them (OEM rubber hangers)..... the exhaust will rattle against the bottom side of the exhaust bezels, and likely break or bend the 2 outboard tips. 6 months after initial installation. I've even since removed the resonator and welded in a custom double H-pipe. No issues whatsoever. Those poly exhaust hangers are solid: Last edited by Ninefourteener; 12-10-2020 at 01:53 PM.. |

Probably an unpopular opinion but this looks terrible.
It looks like its 2 exhausts stuffed into the bumper. You either need to find a way to connect the exhaust to the trapezoids or remove them entirely and go X5M look. |

My tips came in today and I just finished putting them on. I really like the way they look. I installed the exhaust mounts that OP recommended as well. Overall the install wasn't too hard. It took me about 2 hours. The measurements of the tips are 60mm inlet and 80mm outlet. There is just a tiny bit of space in between the tips. The carbon fiber piece makes them a bit thick. Without the carbon fiber there would be a lot more room but I don't think it'd look as good. I'll keep an eye on it of course to how they hold up after a few rides. If anyone is interestested in getting the tips you can contact this person on ebay. You have to ask him for the measurements as he will have to put a custom order in. They took about 2 weeks to get delivered.

For that setup you are looking at a cost delta of at least $3000. If you are looking for a new exhaust tone and a slight performance upgrade then sure but if it's just the look you want then just buy the tips.

I would remove the stock tip if I was to go quad - but to each their own. That's why we don't all have the same cars, which is the beauty of it. |

I guess, for me, and if it were even an option, I would prefer the dual pipes per side be cut off and a single, larger end be put on with a shape that would match the outlet hole. That would look better than seeing those twin tips sitting back there. But I do like the finished product of the OP.

Thanks for all the insight and opinions folks...... good and bad.
My taste isn't everyone's taste, and that's ok. I didn't like to look of "fake" tailpipe finishers, and prefer the look of a "true" exhaust. With that said, I'm already planning an "upgrade" which will include removal of the finishers entirely, possibly minor cutting of the bumper, modification/re-welding of the muffler itself, and 4 much larger tailpipes, similar in design to the X5M. Lots of planning. More to follow. Need warmer weather. |

I don't think either is "fake." The BMW comes with quads stock (for the M50i), they just don't stick out.
One is a minor continuation of the stock look, which is fairly simple to do and barely noticable. It's for people who either have chrome tips and just want to change them to black or they want the quad tips to be better presented through a separation without actually having round quad tips. The other one is a double tip look, which I think some people here don't prefer because it looks like a tip coming out of a tip. If I was going for a true quad round look myself would have done what I did with my 550i - which is to replace the whole diffuser and just get the quad look without the "double" tip (stock tip and quads on top.) But like you said, this is what sets the BMW community apart from others. We have options and we all prefer different things. That's why you will not see the same car twice from an enthusiast perspective. There really is no right or wrong answer with something as subjective as this.
