Magnet for CA HOV stickers

Curious if anyone has used magnets for their CA HOV lane stickers. I sense the bumpers (where the stickers are supposed to be placed) have no metal for the magnets... My 45e should be delivered in October and would like the ability to take them off when I don't need them. I won't go the PPF route as that means there will be ugly yellow stickers on my Manhattan Green car.

Thanks!

I'm just going bare. I keep the stickers in the car, and will just take the chance on a display violation

Yes, that's an option I'm considering too. If I can at least find a place to put the on temporarily (i.e. on the back next to license plate) I may do that. I'm more concerned when I get on the Bay Bridge; not so much on freeway roads.

It's a magnet so it won't stick to a window. The rules state it has to be on certain places on our bumpers. No way am I doing that.

You can buy EV Wraps or similar clear film specifically for HOV decals. The decals are affixed to the film, which come off the car if needed.

I myself plan to just put a single small HOV decal near the rear right fender or bumper.

It might be work to get behind the bumper, but some of the rare earth magnets are VERY strong, and even through the bumper cover, would probably hold the thing in place.

Isn't that film a "one time use" kind of thing? I'd like to be able to put on/take off easily.

So I could stick the rare earth magnet inside the bumper and then the sticker on the outside? That might not be a bad idea.

No, they do come off. Otherwise it wouldn’t be any different than directly applying the decal to the car.

I think so...once you had everything in position, you might want to use some silicone caulk/adhesive on the magnets to keep them in place if you wanted to remove the sticker. I've not tried it.

You might get easy access over the tow hook flap if that is an acceptable location for your sticker.

Bridge toll doesn't check sticker. It bills of the FasTrak Flex. You have to get the the flex for the discount rate

I get that it checks my FasTrak account/license plate (I have flex). Was more concerned about being pulled over for no sticker.

If a license plate mount will do, I use one of these:

But there are a few places to get HOV sticker mounts, for example...

That’s what I did. I figure they just need to see it and since most carpool lanes are on the left lane the cops just need to see the one sticker on the right.

This is actually a pretty good idea. Has anyone in California tried this?

Those seem to be for Canada. They’re not allowed to be placed there in California per DMV.

totally understand that this is not the recommended placement in California, but still wondering if anyone has tried it. Does the extra plastic tab fit?

If your concern is taking it off, the better bet is to put the sticker on a 3M PPF and stick the PPF on. That's how I do my parking permit stickers.

I’m in LA and I used pre-cut 3M wrap stickers from EV Wraps. I didn’t bother with all 4 decals, instead just stuck one of the bigger ones on the right, rear fender behind the tire. Knock on wood, no issues yet since January. Then again, the 15% tint could be keeping them from making a head count anyways.
