Today..... I drive went completely dark. Nothing in center screen at all.

Yesterday - Was parking, quick backup, backup camera stayed on. Idrive froze. Did a hard reset. Went shopping, came back.... screen has been dark since.

Tried hard reset with volume know multiple times. Nothing happens AT ALL. 30 and 70 seconds. Nothing resets, nothing.

Tried bimmercode app.... made a small change to speedometer (160 mph to 200mph) to force-reset ECU..... coding worked. Still no center screen though.

Tried disconnecting battery in the trunk for 20 minutes.... no change.

Strangely enough.... I can hear my PDCs beeping when I back up..... but there's no camera, and no screen.

and of course, no navigation, no stereo, and even the center of my instrument cluster went blank too.

No recent software changes.... it just went "dark". Everything else seems to work though - Drive modes, instrument cluster, air suspension, etc.

Any suggestions on how to "hard reset" idrive that I haven't thought of?

Any ideas what the problem may be?

Mine 2019 so I had this problem my display went off like for 25 minutes, and then came back on. I have a feeling problem with the battery main battery, the one in the trunk . One day later, I change my battery I never had this problem after that.

The car has given me absolutely no reason to think the battery is going out..... but, Based on your experience..... I just went and charged it for about 30 minutes, using jumper cables from my wife's car.

That won't "fix" a battery that is going out..... but at the very least, it would provide a stronger indication of electrical power. Still, no change.

You can try hard reset
(disconnect both batteries)

Possibly bad head unit.

So...... it flickered on for about 1 minute........ 2 times today.

But each time, it then turned off again.

I do remember seeing "services updated" at the top of the screen one of the times it came on.

Coincidentally, I also pulled the headunit fuse in the trunk (at a different time).... no change.

I don't think it's a battery issue..... or a head unit issue.

Any other ideas?

And...... today I got into the car to drive home from work....... and everything is working perfectly..

Like a magical BMW unicorn.

Truly..... truly..... bizarre.

So..... I went about 48 hours with no working center screen, no navigation, no stereo, etc..... a couple of unexplained "resets" where it worked for about a minute..... but then back off again.

I guess this is now "solved"???
