Poll: Help choosing wheel color
I have tires purchased, and already sitting in my garage. (295/30/22 front, 335/25/22 rear)
I have TPM sensors already sitting in my garage. I have ABM drop links bought, and set to arrive this week. I know EXACTLY the wheel I want; Vossen HF-2, flow forged. 22x10.5 front 22x12 Rear. I've already communicated pricing, spoke with Vossen.... and I have the money ready to go. Installation is ALREADY PAID FOR. I just need to make a final decision on wheel color. I don't normally do this... but I am absolutely TORN between 2 colors. It's actually causing me stress because I've been fighting myself for about a week now. I tried to find pictures of white cars with black trim (like my car), so obviously I couldn't post pictures of "only" BMWs.... the pictures just don't exist. Hopefully they get the "theme" across though. So.... gloss gold.... super flashy.... looks awesome.... but possibly a bit ostentatious. (First 3 pics - looks pretty much the same in all 3 pics) Satin bronze... still sexy.... a bit more subdued.... more "business" looking. (Last 3 pics - the way the light hits has a huge impact on appearance, and pretty dramatically changes the way they look. They are satin bronze though, all 3.) No other options. No other wheel choices.... this is EXACTLY what I want (trust me, I've shopped around). I would however, like your opinions on the better color though. Gloss gold, or satin bronze. Why?

And just in case you're curious about WHY I like these particular wheels so much...... they remind me of my first car.... still one of my fav cars of all time to this day (of which I've owned 6 over the years).... and those faint memories of my dad taking me to see "Smokey and the Bandit" when I was a kid.
I know the cars are a million miles apart from one another. I understand that 15x8s made from 1978-1981 are WORLDS different from 22x12s made in 2020....... But the moment I discovered them... I immediately said "Yep.... those are the wheels I have to have" Last edited by Ninefourteener; 05-26-2020 at 04:57 PM.. |

My 2 cents…
Gloss Gold is more suited to a glitzy Ferrari, Lambo, McLaren, or any other supercar. Plus, that color/finish would be very difficult to keep clean with that somewhat intricate HF-2 wheel design. While still bad a _ _, Satin Bronze is more masculine and better suited to stout and sturdy lux SUV. And, I think that color would look sick with the steamroller tires you'll be running. |

Please take all of this in jest, but ... are you planning to add the flaming chicken hood logo as well?
Slightly more seriously, you seem to care about how the car looks based on other posts and actions and, ugh, gotta ask ... are you REALLY SURE gold/bronze is really your look for a modern bimmer? It's no M logo fiasco on a non-purebred M car, I concede that, but still ... Taking all of that into account, my vote would be for whichever wheel is the least gold and the least bronze, that's the one. This is coming from a guy that drove a "gold" car for 14 years.

Yea... I've gone straight white/black on the past several cars. Just want something different this time. My wife says the same thing. She hates both.... but hates the gold more.... lol. Point taken |

The gold doesn’t look good on a white car with black trim in my opinion. The satin bronze is more tasteful but still needs some bronze trim to go with it or it’s seems mismatched. Cerium M50i trim would match. If you would be interested in trading your shadow line trim for my cerium we can talk.
Also if you had Vossen do those wheels in shadow line, like black chrome that would look amazing with your trim. Last edited by UltraDave; 05-26-2020 at 11:10 PM.. |

If the Vossens were less busy and similar in design to the 2002 Hommage concept wheels. Though the 2002 Hommage Pebble Beach rocking the gold pretty nicely though black instead of the silver machined with gold would looking fetching too.
For the Vossens, I'd say bronze.

Thanks for the input folks. I agree, black would look good (although I would choose satin)..... it's the "safe" choice. It's also the same choice I've made on the last several cars I've owned. I want something that stands out a bit more this time.
I think you guys are right though...... as is my wife (lol)...... the gold is a bit "too much" |

If I had to chose between those two I would go for satin bronze. Personally I would chose black gloss in your configuration. But you wanted something that stands out. So go with bronze if you ask me. And if you really looks bad after a while put them on eBay or powder coat them gloss black.

Why? Satin bronze never look clean and I personally love gold color!! Ask yourself: if you had to buy let's say a watch. What color would you pick? Either you stand out properly or not. I also like bronze but specifically not this one 🤷🏻*♂️ |

I vote for Gold as well.
I figure it like this: EVERYONE has satin bronze wheels, I'd prefer something a bit different. Especially with an awesome design like the HF-2. Either color is going to stand out on a white car, so might as well go all the way I say. Also, from my former experience with Vossen (was sponsored by them on my F80 M3), their gold finish is top notch. Looks epic in person.

Looks like the sentiment has started to swing towards gold ... baby — you can't not say "baby" after saying gold ... baby. In that case, @914, you'll have to accessorize.

I do appreciate everyone's input. I'm not sure.of this thread "helped" me.... but I do appreciate everyone's opinion.
I actually "like" the gold better..... I just can"t help but wonder if I should go with the "safer" option. Plus... my wife says it makes the car look like a "donk"... which I disagree with.... but her opinion is weighing heavily on me. The car will receive a lowering treatment too. I will stance it just right so that the wheels fill the wheelwells perfectly, without looking "dumped".... which will eliminate the "donk-ness". "Go bold or grow old". That..... is also heavily resonating with me too. |
