Easy instructions for entering multiple destinations on round trips

Spend some time searching the forums for this but didn't find it so I'm sorry if it's been addressed somewhere else. Every time I try to enter a round trip in the Nav with multiple stops, I feel like my mother trying to work the cable remote. Can anyone point me to some tips or tricks to entering a round trip with multiple stops into the Nav like a pro? Any ability to save trips that are used frequently instead of just saving destinations?

I use voice commands, such as "add a stopover destination" or something along these lines. Surprisingly the Lady inside the MMI unit is fairly intuitive guesser to do what there is to do.

Back when I was getting ready for my first road trip with many stops I decided against using the Trip function and just use favorites instead. I create a favorite for each hotel/attraction we will be stopping at. Then in the X5 I sort them to be in the order we will stopping. Each night I delete the favorite(s) that we no longer need so the first one up is our next destination. We are currently in PA in the middle of a 20 state/5k mile road trip and that method is still working wonderfully.

If I do use the car's nav, I'll use the app and send all of my addresses to the car and when I'm in the car, I set up the directions. Otherwise I just use CarPlay + Gmaps and just type in the directions as I go

once you entered 1 nav destination, there's an option that says "add a stop".

This is how I do it too. Not on the X5 as I haven't taken a trip with it yet but on my TomTom. This way, if I want to go somewhere that was not on my planned route but then want to get back to the planned route, I simply pick the favorite that I want to go to. I've done it this way for years, always works great. On a side note, I typically do not use street addresses, I go through the trouble of finding the GPS coordinates and plug those in so there is no mistake of exactly where its taking me.

I am not in my car, but on iDrive 7 I find the following the easiest.

Add destinations in “reverse order” (meaning start from the destination and work back to where you are currently). If you do this it will ask you to “add stop” every time you enter a new destination. It will then have them in the right order. But you can go to the Nav view and sort the destinations if you need to re-arrange them. While there you can also save it all as a trip.

The BMW Connected app used to allow you to send two destinations at the same time as a “trip”, but the current one doesn’t allow this. I’m hoping they bring back this feature with the ability to add as many stops as the head unit supports so you can create the “trip” on your phone to minimize the head unit steps.

Great tip! I wondered what use I would actually get with the voice assistant. Thanks to you I just found one.

This is what I do for just tooling around town. I've been reading on other threads about the pros and cons of Adaptive mode. Seems like to get the best result, the entire trip should be entered into the Nav. Heading out this weekend on a 200 mile road trip and wanted to see if there were any easy ways to do this.

Yes. I'm familiar with this method. Like everything on this car there seem to be a half dozen ways to do things. The people on this forum are so brilliant and I've learned so many things from them so thought I'd get some additional perspectives.

I use “Hey Siri” through CarPlay (long press on the strewing wheel button) with Apple Maps and it works really well. I haven’t tried the “Hey BMW” equivalent yet, but I may give it a try.
