Scratches on rocker panel where you get out of car?

Anyone else getting these as well? It's on the rocker panel below the driver door so I assume they are from rubbing that when getting in and out.

Yes I have this as well. Occurred on my F15 too. Yet, with a DA polisher-scratches can be easily buffed out. But a pain indeed!

yeah, i'm worried that'll eventually happen.

I think i figured out how to get out of my car.

Basically egress the same way as ingress.

1. open door
2. scooch my butt over where my ass crack is riding on the thigh bolster of the seat
3. extend my left leg as far as possible...where i make my tippy toes contact with the ground
4. continue the scooching process where right ass cheek is now on bolser
5. apply more weight on left leg
6. complete the exiting process
7. Pick out the wedgie cause by the exiting process
8. wonder why the hell this car does not have deployable steps like a Range Rover or have the door sills as part of the door itself.

I add xpel to the rocker areas where this happens.

This is the only good answer for the vast majority of people. Polishing out scratches is not a sustainable solution as you're cutting into the surface with every polish.

The only fix is PPF...

Guess I am going to do Xpel, too.....

Will the film get swirls on it then or no? I've honestly never used PPF. I assume it won't?

Also, something that little of an area is probably a DIY, right?

Would love a pic if you have one of your Xpel.....I assume you basically have to do this under all 4 doors?

I have PPF on the whole car. In the front and on the roof, it's to prevent rock chips primarily. For the rest it's to prevent swirls and other clear coat imperfections. Good PPF is self-healing. I went full body after seeing the difference in panels on an older car where PPF-ed panels looked brand new after 5 years and the others, though ceramic coated and cared for, you could see the halos and the odd fine scratch here and there through to the color coat.

Don't DIY PPF; talk to a professional.

Thanks but its a lease so I only want to do the little area on the rocker. That isn't a DIY for even a small area like that?

If it's a lease, I may not bother. You can polish it a couple of times, top it off with some wax/ceramic after each polish, and before you know it, the lease is over. I still wouldn't do PPF by myself. If you don't do it edge to edge on a panel, the edge of the film with catch dirt over time and the outline will be even more obvious.

It is very easy to do a DIY for the rocker. For my last few cars, I just buy a small strip of Xpel and place on the appropriate places on rocker and behind wheels. I have not found that the edge of the PPF collects dirt and shows an outline. Don't hesitate, it is easy-peasy.

Are you talking about the plastic or the metal scuff plate?

I take it to mean the body color surface outboard of those lighted trim plates
