The sticker says 265/35/19. It's ok Joe, I'm a bit younger than you and my eyes are still 20/20.

No! Cheaper than the new AD08Rs as I believe it's a promotional price.
Standard sizes. They sit much wider on the rims than the PS2s. The PS2s looked stretched - these sit very cleanly, almost square. I'll take some pics. They ARE HUGE!. Haven't driven in the wet yet, just from the tyre place to work and back, but I will be careful. Bam!

Even with the 3+1 promotion with the AD08Rs?

These look great. I just wish they came in more sizes.
Do you think running these on the rear and PSS on the front would be a bad idea (my car isn't a DD and I don't track it)? Even with 295 PSS on the rear I can't seem to get traction. I would be going with the 305s in the PSC2.. |

You can't get traction with 295 PSS? Perhaps try using the throttle more gently rather than more rubber.
I can't believe these are cheaper than AD08R? And yes, I also could not get stock of the AD08R during 3 for 4, and they still don't have stock now for the size I want. |

Careful trying to fit such a size under the rear - these seem quite wide compared to the PS2 265s I have no problem with traction in a straight line now with new new tyres in standard sizes, but I have no driveline modifications. Weren't cheaper than 4 for 3 deal but cheaper than 4 for 4 deal! That will change soon I expect.

All semi slicks are like that. I'm surprised you guys are using semi slicks on daily drivers? They do wear out incredibly quickly and whilst I have no experience with PSC2, the original PSC has little ability to disperse water and as a result is almost dangerous in the wet unless you drive very slowly. I hear the PSC2 is the same and has already taken a few scalp on wet roads such as on 991 GT3. And finally they need a bit of heat in them to operate properly.

Its about time Michelin distributed some proper performance tires in Australia. The super sport simply do not stand up to track usage and are quickly destroyed by the heat. Hopefully these will be better and more durable on the track.

Well I managed to fit 295 PSS back there (265 on the front) and they have the exact same section width as the PSC2. I may just have to sit tight and hope they release more sizes. Thanks for the input.
Also Ian, I'm not running standard wheels. The wheels I'm using are wider and are also approx 6lbs lighter per corner. Whereas the 295 PSS is only 3lbs heavier than the 265 PS2. |

Trefeo is a very interesting semi slick. Not many people use them, but they are very good! I had them as OE equipment on my first 997.2 GT3, which was a CS model as well. I raced against my friend in his 997.2 RS on the track for about 30 laps in total (3x10) and they stood up to the test incredibly well. His car was shod with PSC. Despite a thread wear of 60, the Pirellis seem to wear much less than PSC, and is infinitely better in the wet! My second 997.2 GT3 came with PSC as OE equipment, and I used to go through low speed corners literally having to opposite lock in heavy rain, whereas I could take the same corner at 20kmh higher speed in the Pirellis with no issue. No exaggeration there! My JCW GP comes from the factory with Kumho V710 semi slicks. These have thread wear of 50. I've been very impressed by them, both in the dry and wet. Maybe they are good in the wet because they are only 215s and not 305s like kn a GT3. Also the fact that it has a lot less power also helps lol. But nevertheless, the Kumhos are very good tyres. You would expect so as BMW developed the car with these tyres, and likewise chose these tyres for the car when they could have gone with their normal suppliers like Michelin. But Steve, if you are doing a lot of track days, why not invest in a separate set of wheels and tyres? Also, what cars are you using these tyres on? Will give a better perspective. The issue with the Trofeo R is the debris I pick up on the road - gets a little tiring. Also in winter once it goes below 15 degree it loss a lot of grip on the road and rubs even with the new liner. However, it is more quiet than the PSS and AD08R, rides a bit firmer so it is less bouncy than the AD08R which I prefer.

It's the tyre pressures that determine the contact patch size. The shape changes, but not the amount of area. So as Ian says, a wider tyre, won't give you more grip, the benefit of wider is less heat build up as the tyre has to flex less to provide the same contact patch. Ro1M, when's Sandown? I'm keen to head out again. |
