Gentlemen we have a casualty
I was heading back to Brisbane from the gold coast today and stopped to fill my tank. Being the nice and courteous gentleman that I am I moved my car to a parking space on the side of the store before paying (there was a line for the pumps). This was my downfall.... I went into the store to pay and some bogan in a ute ran into the back bumper of my 1nr. I heard the noise and saw a ute burn rubber out of the parking lot and when I went out there was a man standing next to my car looking at the bumper. He said the ute backed into my car and drive off but he didn't get the plate. The damage isn't that bad but it pissed me off that the driver would run off. Looks like I will have to have the entire bumper replaced. Since I moved my car to the parking area they have no cameras to help me find the perpetrator. The moral of the story is don't be nice and move your car.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good body shop in Brisbane? |

That shits me, I always seem to be waiting for dickheads to buy subway and get a coffee before moving their car away from the pumps and I never do that to other people. This is the thanks you get for being considerate. I think a lot of people just live in a bubble of their own selfishness.

Even though the cameras might not pick up the parking area, if the ute went through the pumps then it's plates should be picked up then. Suggest you act quickly because the service station may not keep video footage for long

shit go :/ as has been said if he filled up or drove through where the pumps are the servo should have the plate on video. Some not all servos sweep their footage weekly hopefully they still have it.
I get my car back today after a stupid women merged into me on the 8th of August, I know the pain its like someone kicked your pet. |

If you can't get details, pm me. There is a mobile guy in Tarragindi who specialises in these things. He did a major repair to my bumper and repainted for $300. He has a gift for blending paint colours together.

I had some guy reverse their car into mine denting the back corner. You can't really see it when its clean but I know exactly where it is. I assume it was a ute which was parked behind me which had PVC pipes hanging off the back.
Ignore how dirty it is, back then I had to park near a building site everyday

A ute doing a runner and burning rubber in the process at a Gold Coast servo sounds almost too bogan to handle.

I have filed a criminal complaint withe the police and they are going to get the camera records to see if they can find the guy. I know it was a white land rover ute with a flat bed and even have the first two numbers of the plates so you would think they could find him. Hopefully this will negate the $1500 deductible to fix it.
I am taking it into the body shop for Brisbane BMW to see what the quote is Monday morning. I will not be keeping my insurance company (comminsure) after the way that they treated me with this. They want me to take it to a cheapo place that won't match the colour and will make it look like sh!t. As soon as the claim is done I will be changing and taking all my business somewhere else (they have my home owners insurance, super and all my banking). I know that people make mistakes (I even thought I made one once but they found out I was mistaken)... but own up to it.. don't drive off. Take responsibility and apologize. |

i have also had a horrendous encounter with comminsure. They were by far the cheapest insurance company by $60-$70 a month, but that comes at a price. I spent 3.5 months without my car. 2 of those months were because they subcontract out their assessments in the ACT to some small company whose policy is to only send out assessors once they have > 5 jobs.
1.5 months after getting the repairs done (great job actually by the repairer), comminsure call me up and tell me they mis-quoted the excess and wanted me to pay another $500. I told them to shove it, logged a complaint about the damages incurred as a result of not having a car for 3 months. They eventually called back an advised they'd waive the fee, at which point i told them they need to look into reducing my premiums on top of this otherwise i'll be taking all my business (home and contents, home loan, savings, cc etc with them) elsewhere. yet to hear back on that one... |

I had home insurance with them and the one claim I had, never made a claim before, due to storm damage took over 6 months due to them stuffing up. If wasn't even that big of a bill, under $2k.

+2 to NRMA. Their policy was very competitive for me also.

Have everything form business to personal with GIO. Never ever had a problem with them.
My way of thinking, pay a bit extra for peace of mind. Although lately GIO have been very competitive. |

GIO here as well...
They are pretty good with car cover now, choice of repairer and general coverage of all modifications minus about 5 specifics. Had one claim on the car (bumper respray) and one on the house and both times no problems...
