JIM RACING N54 Downpipes $250.00USD + shipping
Anyone heard of or experienced these downpipes?
Apparently they are rebranded BMS downpipes and seem to be going for really cheap atm. http://burgertuning.com/BMS_COMPETIT...S_BLOWOUT.html http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26858 Considering getting them... and the incentive to buy gets better with a group purchase (shipping) too! |

Given they're renamed BMS ones... the answer is no iirc
But you can get the O2 bung moved and THEN it fits. and for $250, and they're otherwise reasonable quality... still a bargain. ED: I get a quote of $120 shipping, which is ludicrous ballpark measurements with shipito say.. $51.. plus a little domestic to get it to them, so shouldn't be more than $60 odd could get a nice deal still if a few people were to buy some, i'd assume?... Might also be worth a try contacting terry. |

Yep, I've shot Terry a message questioning fitment and shipping. Rates should be alot cheaper than what is quoted. If I order two, the shipping goes to $170 instead of $120, so I can assume the more the merrier kind of thing. Otherwise looking at getting a freight forwarder etc |

- Good price but $120 for shipping to Australia. The joys of living in Australia.
Terry: "I know... International shipping is not fun. If you can buy multiple sets we'll do it for the same shipping change though. As many sets as you can muster. " - Do these fit RHD cars? (Aus) Terry: N55 yes direct fit. N54 yes, but you need to bend/relocate one o2 sensor during the install. To surmise, - Unless I've read it wrong, it looks like Terry can do $120 flat rate for everyone no matter how many sets purchased? If that's so then it would be damn cheap! - Also, not 100% sure how relocate the o2 sensor during install. Anyone shed light on this. Could also look at organising install at an indy workshop for a cheaper price also. - Anyone interested please add your name to the list below and I will get a quote on overall price with Terry JIM RACING N54 Downpipes Jeff - n54 dp |

They won't work out to double once you land them plus who can be bothered having to relocate the sensor etc and I guess for me I'd give stu and Pete my business not because I'm lazy but because of all the r&d they do looking into things like this that keep it hassel free

I would definitely buy the N55 DP at $300ish landed... but I already have a DP. Although if you're looking at N54 DPs and need to relocate the o2 sensor, it'll add to your install costs so might make sense buying local RHD DPs. |

Need to assess the feasibility of the whole purchase with regards to the o2 sensors. If it is more hassle than it's worth then obviously ditching this deal lol |

Im not trying to ruin a thread here, but for me it seems to much of a headache and for what its worth an extra $100-$200 for something that will fit exactly how you want them to fit, not have to worry about shipping issues, and were fabbed up by people that work on these cars day in day out.
At the end of the day you drive a BMW, it wasnt exactly a cheap car to start with why be a tight ass now for the few hundread $$. Support the community and the people like stu and pete that constantly give. you cant put a price on a wealth of knowledge. |

Buying it from BMS vs buying it from Stu is the same for general consumers TBH - you go on a website and they ship it to you. Then you take it to a shop and they fit it. Many of us don't live in Sydney so unfortunately we can't take it to Peter (I wish they were in Brisbane though!). You seem to suggest that BMR's DP is superior to Terry's, and that they have more knowledge of the cars than BMS... At the end of the day if it's a trusted and tested product (which I'm sure both of them are) who cares who made the pipe?

Ok didn't mean for this to turn into a buying local vs. overseas fest.
In my opinion, regardless of whether you are a Ferrari or BMW owner - if you can purchase a product that is of renown quality and at a good price (read bang for buck) then it is worth purchase. No one ever got rich spending big - especially on a depreciating asset. In this case, BMS/Jim Racing DPs fits the description however pricing inclusive of the o2 fix needs to be further evaluated. |

no matter how you look at it, this price + shipping + mods WILL work out cheaper than the local options.
If you want to go to the effort, then do it. Back in the day, that's exactly what i would do. These days i value my time and effort far more than i value saving a couple of hundred dollars. Having just bought my DPs from stu only a week or so ago, i'd still make the same decision again even with these available. It's an individual choice, so whatever fits your current situation best. |
