Lease Question
For those who leased the car did you buy any protection plan that the finance guys offer. I have owned bmw's before but never leased so not sure if any of those packages (e.g. wheel and tire protection) are needed.

I do not have any leases currently, but I handle all my family's leases and I politely decline any "protection" they offer.
Wheels- I have a guy I use that will fix curb rashes for 50-100 bucks. Dent repair- this has become much cheaper these days Unless you abuse your cars, I don't see any reason to do the plans.

Curb Rash is one thing, but the tires are $3-400 a piece and the wheel would have been $1000 out of my pocket. Multiply this out over a 3 year lease period and the savings are high. 19 inch wheels with run flat performance tires will take abuse from cracks and potholes. Not as bad as 20s but you will still 100% risk damage. Author's note: I don't drive like an idiot and I avoid 99% of potholes, but if you've ever driven on the Palisades Parkway or the NYS Thruway around greater NYC you have to understand where I'm coming from. Skip all the other stuff, its crap. The paint protection is just overpriced car care stuff. Ding protection, eh, they do take out door dings but any body shop can do that. Clear Bra. . . They charge 3-4 times what a tint shop with 3M or Llumar film would.

OK I see you're both from fairer weather in Southern California. It's all up to you about the condition of the roads, I agree with the OP if there aren't ginormous meteor-strike like craters all over the main roads.

I KNEW every single time I hit a pothole when it happened too. The adaptive suspension on the 650i xdrive paired with the 20 inch wheels and low profile run flats is literally the HARDEST hitting suspension over bumps I've ever experienced. I actually took the car back in to see if the shipping blocks were still on it or something because of how severe some of the jolts can be over simple stuff like manhole covers. I know its a heavy car but I was really surprised.

The tire plan is useful...my dealer offers it for $1200 and after 3 tires with nails it will pay for itself.. my last lease i had 5 replaced due to nails and other road shit.

I got the ding plan as that kind of thing happens (especially where I live) and it was pretty cheap. I passed on the tire / rim plan. It all depends on where you live and what kind of situations you see yourself driving the car in.
