New Wintertime M4 Owner Chiming In
Hey guys,
I am new to these boards, and I am happy to announce that I recently picked up a gorgeous 2015 BMW M4. I live in a smaller city in British Columbia, Canada, and they don't carry any of these cars at my local dealership, so I had to drive over a mountain pass (Coquihalla) to purchase the car in Vancouver. I have been wishing for one of these cars for a very long time, and when I finally seen one in the exact color combination I've been looking for, I had to leave right at that minute and drive out to buy it. After I bought the car I was pretty tired from all the negotiating and paperwork, and I made the irrational decision to drive her back through the mountains to get home and to bed, despite that fact the dealership highly discouraged it and recommended I have it shipped back for $500. Regardless, I took the risk and there were some rather scary parts of the drive but I made it home in one piece and there's no serious damage to the car thankfully. The worst part of the drive had to be when there was a sand truck on the highway in front of me, and I didn't want to pass because he was spraying gravel all over the place, so I drove 100M or so behind him for a while, but there was rocks from the road flipping up into my wheel wells due to all the sand he was laying down, and there was nothing I could do. It's full blown winter here where I live so there's gravel all over the streets, but my impulsive nature forced me to drive it around for a couple days after I got it home too. Unfortunately now there is a few small rock chips in the paint around the wheel wells. I guess I asked for it, but I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to get it fixed at a body shop. It could be a lot worse, but I like to keep things in great shape, and now that I've come to my senses, I'll be keeping her locked up in the garage during winter months. Hearing rocks flipping up into your wheel wells and the surrounding paint seriously feels like fingernails on a chalkboard. Anyways, to tell you guys more about my car, it's an F82 in Mineral White with Extended Sakhir Orange interior, 6-speed manual transmission, and a few aftermarket goodies such as a CF trunk lip, M-Performance exhaust with CF exhaust tips, CF mirror caps, CF air intakes on the front, black grill, black 19” wheels, and tinted rear windows. I've dubbed her Snow Whyte, and she's looks absolutely stunning. In fact it's the most beautiful car I've ever seen. I ended up spending a little more on this car than I originally intended to, especially considering it was a demo and already had 3500km on it, but it was calling my name and the extra km's just means that I don't have to worry about the break-in period. At least being driven by one of the BMW managers as a demo it would have been broken in properly, which is comforting. My only concerns at this point are the few small rock chips around the wheel wells, and the fact that this car just does not want to go the speed limit. She's basically asking for a ticket, so I need to find a radar detector/laser jammer that will alert me before I get stung by the cops. The guy at the dealership recommended the Escort Passport 9500CI, as I want something that's built in. Now I can't wait for summer, I really need to have some time with her on the hot summer pavement without any gravel, but for now I'm going to have to be patient and content with just looking at her and starting her up once a week. The only other car I've owned is a 2008 Honda Civic EX-L that I purchased new when I was 18, so this is quite a step up, but I knew I would be getting a beamer eventually considering the initials of my name are actually BMW. My parents have been telling me since I was a kid I had to get one of these lol. I've also added to my bucket list potentially shipping the car out to Europe in the next couple years doing a Euro tour in my F82. This would be quite a phenomenal experience, and apparently you can ship your car over there for around $2K. Anyone know about this? I've attached a picture I took of the car during delivery. Any ideas what they use to make it absolutely sparkle at the dealership? The picture probably doesn't do that justice, but I'm just not able to get it quite as clean at home as they did. Nice ride.
What wheels/rubber you running for winter? (If nothing, well, You need some - and there are lots of good options - my setup was done by tunerworks in Calgary, which is probably a bit too far for you in winter (roger's pass on summer tires? Holy f--k..... Would make coquihalla look like a warm summer day....). That said Tirerack can do same setup and ship to you - let me know if you need details) I would not lock her up. Just get good 3M or xpel for the gravel and winter tires and drive it. Winter is too long (even in Kamloops) to let these machines sit. Lots of us drive them up ere, just have to set it up right

You are pretty brave, lucky you didn't run into some weather even on all season tires the "coke" is dangerous let alone on summer tires.
I learned that from watching one of my favorite shows. Heehee Congrats! |

Congratulations on your M4 it looks great iin that color combination. I assume you must have had winter tires on if you drove the Coquihalla in January???
It has been an incredibly mild winter in Vancouver this year and we are of course known for mild winters. It is now late January and we have had a total of 1" of snow this entire winter. It was 10 degrees celcius overnight and the local ski hills are all closed because of too much rain and a lack of snow. I wouldn't risk an M3 or M4 without winter tires but this year you probably could have gotten away with it. |

Congrats...glorious and looks exactly like white sex panther, sans the ride height, spacers and the black mirrors.
However, this picture may have just enticed me to go black mirrors as I think it looks great with the splitters. Damn it and damn you, I can't stop spending money on this car.

Congrats, fantastic combination!! I just picked mine up yesterday and had to drive it 5 hrs home through mountain roads. Weather was beautiful until the last leg and it started snowing. Luckily I came prepared. It's getting a clear bra done and winter wheels are next.

Car looks great. Not sure about shipping it over to Europe for a "road trip". Would be expensive and time-consuming, especially if you would then ship it back again. You could always order another one and do European Delivery. That is a blast.

^This or use BMW on demand I believe it is called. You could just rent a car of your choice or multiple different BMWs to try out. Would be a lot of fun.

Painters tape to prevent any rock chips as I drove home from Ohio to Maryland. I did have to remove the tape over the headlights when it got dark later. Now it's got clear paint protection on and I had no chips from the 300 mile journey.
