Review for Harrop SC
I finally got around to writing this review and getting a dyno. Disclaimer, I suck at reviews so bear with me lol.
I've owned my car since new five years ago. I put the harrop kit on at around 90,500 miles. Ive since put on about 1k miles in the past month and half I've had this kit. I want to start with the performance. One particular thing I liked was there was no break-in period for the kit. According the Mike Benvo, each kit is tested in-house prior to being shipped out to ensure quality and functionality, so as you can imagine the first thing I did when I got this kit was drive around the block and floor it.... and it was glorious! I have an E93 so the extra weight has always been annoying, despite being FBO. But now with the Harrop kit, it was hauling. It took me a while to adjust how fast I could get to redline in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear. The extra torque is awesome for two things: rolling from a light and freeway acceleration. From a light, my foot does not go down as far as it used to and certainly doesn't stay down as long. The pick-up is really quick. And once again, being an E93, this is a very nice change. On the freeway, I can accelerate reasonably fast in 7th gear. Yes, 7th gear. If I really want to get on it, I'll be over 100mph in no time. The in-your-pants feeling is amazing. All that torque right at your finger tips and it comes on FAST. Also, the power band is like stock and super smooth. No hesitating, bucking, and no issues. I had the kit installed at Lang Racing per Mike's recommendation and I back that recommendation as well. Andrew was extremely responsive, did an amazing job on the install, kept me up to date, and had my car back as promised. Aesthetically speaking, the whine is there. No doubt about that and it turns heads. Driving through Santa Monica all eyes are turned. The videos are very accurate. I enjoy the whine and I feel it adds a certain character to the car. Coupled with my catless exhaust, it is a symphony of sound. I love every moment of it. One thing I found interesting was my drone range shifted down from around 2500~ to about 1600~ rpm. So no more cruising drone. Around town, the whine is more prominent, but once I'm on it I hear the exhaust more. Why Harrop you ask? I've wanted a supercharger since about 4 years ago. I was originally looking at Active because I love their design and their customer service was top notch. But I never got it because of warranty concerns, etc etc. About a year ago I was really looking into an ESS or Gintani kit because the two companies are close by to where I live and they had a lower price point (I was looking at the 575 kits). But I still wasn't to thrilled with the blower location. It always looked out of place to me so I never had the real urge to pull the trigger, but I can't tell you have many countless hours I spent looking at the details of all these kits. Then when the Harrop kit came out, I wanted it. Got a hold of Mike, took a spin, and 2 weeks later the kit was on order and ready to go. I just can't get over how OEM this kit looks and how clean. It really looks and feels like it should have came with the car from the factory. Today, I finally got my dyno with a peak RWHP of 503 and 370 RWTQ. Graph below. I must commend European Auto Source on their customer service and how they treat me. They are awesome and always work with me when I need something, install stuff fast, and respond straight away. Tom is always a pleasure to work with and Kevin is always on point and super responsive. eAs is a great company and my experience with them has been nothing but top notch. Now, we all know Mike's reputation and I went in with a certain level on expectations from him. He met and exceed them. I wanted to see and feel the kit on his car, we set that up fast. I wanted to take a little time and think about the purchase, he answered all my questions very quickly. Even after I picked up the car he calls and asks me how I like it. The best part, I didn't even tell him I had picked it up (since I had just picked it up like 20 mins prior). And to show his dedication to getting the job done, I was going to be out of town for 2 weeks right after I ordered the kit and I wanted to me delivered before I left so I could put it in the garage and not leave it outside. He got them to package it and ship it out FAST so that it made it to me on time. That is customer service. Mike lives up to the reputation this forum has built up. The whole experience of having this kit has been nothing but perfect. Any questions, feel free to PM me.

100% agreed with your review and statement !
I saw the customer service too with Mike-Benvo and my BPM/Engine-tune and DCT software upgrade . Even after 2 years when I have questions or a problem I just can call him at any time ... Congrats with the Harrop it looks really amazing ,I would go for it too...But would fail at the yearly Belgian car inspection ,actually they really s@ck !

Excellent review. I want to get a harrop supercharger for my next build and you may have just sold me on it.
Benvo is awesome- his service and expertise is excellent. He tuned my v8 1m clone and he did all the coding required to clean everything up. I was so fortunate to have such a specialized and knowledgable coder/tuner finish the build. I can't recommend him enough. |

Thanks for the review and congrats on your Harrop SC! I think you may have sold me too as I've been in the market for a good SC kit and Harrop has been striking my fancy as of late.

What a beautiful dyno graph, gotta love 300lb-ft at the wheels at 2300rpm. Can someone do a dyno pull from around 1500rpm? I know this is lugging the motor, but I'd like to see how the really low-rpm torque is. I live in LA so I'm constantly around 1800-2200rpm.
Thanks

That really does look OEM. Replace the Harrop signature and it looks like an OEM Supercharged M motor....crazy

How is it low? It's running like what, 6psi? This is just the Stage 1 kit, correct?
Compare this to other centri kits and see how much more power under the curve it is until ~7000rpms. This kit will make a bigger difference for manual cars as their oem gear spacing is so poor.

I want this kit so bad. The price is a bit up there right now. may be it will start to come down once the stage 2 is out.

From what I understand, it's the way the blowers produce power. The centri kits keep making boost to redline, while this screw type makes full boost halfway through. The trade off is the power isnt as high at the top but you get more area under the curve. I attached this overlay with a 585. It is a VERY VERY rough comparison, as the new kit is a 595 and the dyno is like 2 years old, but I feel is shows a good representation of how each of the kits work. I did a light search for these graphs, so this is a mere representation. If someone has more accurate or correct info, which Im sure a lot of people do, by all means correct me. I would never want to misrepresent something.
