Newer DSC firmwares seams quite a bit less intrusive?
I've had my ICOM cable for 8 months now, never got the courage to start flashing modules.
Until today. Flashed a bunch, not all yet, but the "biggest" one I did today was the DSC. Was previously running quite possibly the first M3 DSC firmware revision. UIF says it was flashed on 13.06.2007. After getting a bit freaked out cause of some small issues that came up after the flash (DSC needs to be re-calibrated after new firmware is flashed), I took the car out for a short rip. It rained today, for the first time in over a week. So the environmental situation was ideal to see the DSC kick in. I noticed its significantly less intrusive. I have a few spots around my home that I drive daily, so I know how the car reacts on high throttle press. Most of the folks on here will already be running the latest greatest firmwares available, but in my case it was not so. I have a retrofitted CIC and the old CCC is long gone, so going the standard "stealership" upgrade route is out of the question as ISTA/D (their software) wont let them upgrade the modules without the old CCC in there. Anyways, thought I would share. If your running old old DSC firmware, you might be pleasantly surprised with the newer/newest revisions. |

I can confirm (at least for the European model) that the 2009 stock DSC ECU was much more annoying. After updating it was much better.
My MPG also changed with 241E for the engine ECU and the latest DTC ECU software in comparison to the stock 2009 software. The car used about 2 liters less on 100km in city driving, that's an increase of about 2 miles per gallon. |
