What to buy after the M5?

So, I find myself not "bored" with the M5, but an itch to get something else.

I bought my CPO 2013 M5 with every option checked off for a little under $65k, and I've put on nearly 10k miles in just over 6 months. I think I'll be selling it for around $57k-$60k.

That being said, I have no idea what I want next. One of my professors has a M6 GC which looks absolutely gorgeous, but I want something with 2 doors, just so it looks a bit sportier, and I have been looking at a 2014 M6. The R8 also seems like a good option, but what other cars would be a step up from the M5 UNDER $100k? Any input from some of the guys that burn through cars like pieces of gum...

This is my short list, but I've put the cons of each car next to it:

Audi R8 (looks cool, hard to find one under $100k)
Nissan GTR (interior is sub-par and creature comforts are non-existent)
BMW M6 (best option so far, however a similar-speced to my M5 would cost around $110k)
Maserati Gran Turismo (hard to get serviced as there is no Maserati dealership in Omaha, looks meh)
Aston Martin "insert model here" (would blend in too much)

You need 2 door coupe? Get KING M4
And forget about dated GTR (8 years old body style), Audi R8 (same as GTR), Maserati GT (heavy and lazy car with under-power engine) and Aston Martin (any model you insert)
If you want to get 2014 M6 (Coupe) you can find a used one under 100k...
This is one of them:

I like the looks of the new Cayman GTS. Plus we do have a very good Porsche dealer in Omaha.

C63S coupe. Some of the spy shots indicate maybe a wider rear stance than the sedan model similar to a black series. Who knows what the production car will look like. And the interior is a pretty big step up from the previous generation.

991 S/4S.

997.2 Turbo.

Before the next generation M5 comes out the only logical progression is:

F10 M5 -> Cayman GTS/GT4, Carrera S, or Turbo S - > Vette C7 Z06 -> Mclaren 12C -> Ferrari 458 -> Merc AMG-GTS -> Lambo Huracan -> Ferrari F12 Berlinetta -> BMW M4

I was in the same boat. I sold my 2013 M5 on April 24th, bought a 2015 F150 Platinum, jacked it up a bit, put some big wheels on it, sold it 5 weeks later, now I'm picking up a 2014 M5 CP this week on swapalease, I'll keep this for 2 years and then deal with the first world issue of what to drive next.

I absolutely love the Cayman GTS, drove one on the track (Porsche World Event) and WOW, what an awesome car! That could be in the cards in a couple of years or a 911 GTS.

I agree going from a 13 M5 to a 14 M5 CP is a very pleasant upgrade.
Have you thought about modding?

GTR is definitely not a dated looking car in my opinion. Plus the aftermarket is huge, it won't be hard to make it fast. Plus if you get bored with stock GTR you can do full bolt ons. Than if you get bored with that you can do turbos and motor which will be almost one of the fastest cars anywhere you go. Besides TT lambo. If you're looking to do a lot of aftermarket stuff the GTR is the car to get. Plus you get AWD launches 😃

M4 or 911 everytime. If you go 911 you'll have no change...but with an M4 you can buy a E92 m3 and rip the interior out, and turn it into a track car..and being in the USA you'll have a spare garage to put it in!

Then you can rediscover your youth - play ken block at the local circuit and own the conversation about cars!

Cheers

The M6 is totally doable under $100k. I've found fully loaded 2014 CPOs around $85k.

I like the R8 look, especially since they've kept it the same for so long, but it's hard to tell a 2008 from a 2015...

I want to test drive a M6 before buying it, because I heard the ride is a bit stiffer? But alas, not a single M6 at the dealerships within like 100 miles of me.

Eh... I feel like it's going to be a cramped little thing. I just placed an order for a winter SUV, because I couldn't get to my classes for 3 days because the M5 was stuck in the garage due to the ice and lack of all-season tires. So I guess I can take a look, but I am already somewhat biased against it...

991 S/4S.

997.2 Turbo.

Yeah, the current C63 AMG looks dated. Once they bring in the new styling, I might consider it.

So when are you trading in Mika?

That is also a really weird order... Why is the 458 before the GTS? and the M4 is on the top?

Can't do the 4 doors anymore. I actually considered a used '14 when I bought my '13. At the time I was getting a fully-loaded '13 instead of a nearly base '14... Plus, I don't like the petite steering wheel BMW has gone with now.

Yeah, the problems we face aren't too rough.... I guess with so many suggesting it, I should give the car a fair chance to win me over... Plus it's definitely sporty enough!

The stock "560" is more than enough power for me. I did do some cosmetic mods and was planning on dropping in an Akra exhaust, but put that on hold since I might swap out the car. Modding is fun, but I primarily due cosmetic mods, since performance tend to void warranties....

GT-R is a great car, but not really into making the car have too much power. Most of these are plenty fast enough for me...

Haha, rediscover my youth? I'm about to turn 20. The M4 is a great car, test drove one when mine was in for service. It lacks the looks though, M6 is where it's at IMO.

The E63 is right around $95k right now, if I go for the AMG-S, I don't think I can wing it....

7-series is way too big for me IMO. The 5-series is the right size for me, which is why I've moved up from the 550 -> m5.

That's exactly my point when I say dated. I believe they all (2008-2015) have the same chassis code.

Yes M6 is a bit stiffer and since it's lighter you feel more agility. The cabin is not sealed like M5 so you can hear more road noise. Personally I like the look of interior, dashboard and seats more than M5. Overall M6 is more sporty than M5 and not as comfortable as M5 is.

If your 20 you definitely should go M4 all day everyday...plenty of time of big cars in your later years! Or more to the point you should find an old school E34 M5 in good nick, how are you going pick up that hot hippy chick if your in a new car? (just looks like your driving your dads car?)

I'm 43, no need to rush young jedi!
