Functional Ideas for Preset Buttons on Center Console

Hi guys,

I about have this car mastered with all the gadgets and options. The one area I still haven't setup properly are all those handy presets that on previous cars can only store radio stations. But now we can store all kinds of functions. I made Button 7 and 8 to immediately navigate me to work and home, respectively. Thinking about adding another to call home. I am not sure I will bother at all with saving sat or radio presets to them since it seems just as easy to use I-drive or the steering wheel controls.

What are some of the creative presets you guys have saved that you find handy?

Good question. I have a preset for going home as well. My number one preset is pandora. But you still need to open the app on your phone everytime you restart the car which is kind of a bummer. First world problems.

Not to sound paranoid or be a negative nancy, but I would not place your home address in your presets for safety reasons. Maybe use an address in close proximity to your home.

You never know when someone may steal your vehicle.

Whatever function you are currently doing on the iDrive, just press and hold numbers 1-9 until you here a beep. Then by simply pressing that button from here on out it will automatically bring you to that function. Doesn't work for everything (like sports gauges unfortunately).

What do you mean? I do have a button set to bring up the Sport Displays.

LOL, my #7 and #8 are exactly like yours, navigate to work and home respectively.

I use the other 6 to control what is on the iDrive display.
#1 Toggle between full screen and split screen (assist window)
#2 Arrow display on assist window
#3 Trip computer on assist window
#4 Audio display (artwork) on assist window
#5 Weather forecast on main screen
#6 Power and Torque display on main screen

As for calling home, I do that often enough. So I just need to press on the phone button on the steering wheel, scroll with the steering knob until I see "HOME" in the cluster and press the phone button again.

I press 8 and sport gauges pull up for me.

1 is my radio presets
2 is the interactive map
3 is traffic info
7 is calling the wife
8 is nav to my home town.

i have 2-3 empty and forgot the other. There was a thread i think last year about this, they had some good ones in there.

Hmm I'll have to retry it. Everytime I've attempted it before it would say something along the lines of 'this function cannot be performed.' It's good to know my car is just being a douche and it can be done. Thanks.

You can't have the sports screen opened. Scroll to the sport screen setting then press and hold a preset buttton.

Good stuff. I remember seeing that other thread too but it was before I got my car. I tried to do a search and couldn't find it. Hence why I started this thread. Still looking forward to seeing more and evidently this is helping others that didn't know about these functions.

what how are you guys doing this I was able to save 2 address but thats about it and ever since when I tried saving stuff it did not work. Gonna give it another try in 30 mins.
