Traffic flow/info takes forever to come up on car startup

I swear this today is the worst I've ever seen it....a full 4 minutes or so after starting the car.....anyone else?

My traffic info actually didn't come up on the drive to work today, at all.

It showed a 36min drive to work, that actually took 1hr15mins. Didn't update itself the whole time.

hmm... I keep nav with traffic info as my smaller split screen, and it's always up and running within a minute or so - Bay Area, CA.

I do the same and I noticed it took 3-4 minutes each time today

Doesn't it get the data over RTTS which is an FM signal? If so then it could simply be poor reception. In any case, BMW doesn't provide the data, just the way to receive the free signal. We are at the mercy of those that provide the free information.

The info was stuck in traffic yesterday too.

Are you sure about this?

I have the impression that the data is received through the SIM card and BMW On-Line. Maybe it is just coincidence, but every time I don't get traffic info, I also get "can't access network" message when trying to access other BMW On-Line functions.

It has been slow lately for me in the Sac, CA area. Varies from 4 to 10 minutes

The RTTS system BMW uses is the faster updating one, typically 4 min. The older system updated in 7-10. So, that is why you may not have traffic until you are knee deep in it!

Same here in SC. It takes anywhere from 1 in to 20 min for traffic to show up. Afternoons are consistently slower than mornings. This started in ~ June, it was fine before. Now, it is getting worse and worse.

Just use the Waze app for traffic. It is much more accurate plus it alerts you to where the Po-Pos are
