I have had an Escort 9500ix for a few years now. Pretty happy with it and I'm sure you can find a good deal on one since there's a newer model out now.
I had a 9500ci in my previous car. I had issues with it and would've been forced to uninstall it to send it in (PITA). I feel windshield mounted radars are best.

Valentine 1 + Waze.
I wish BMW would release a Waze app, for BMW connected.

9500ix is always on. Sometimes use Waze but get aggravated with Waze from time-to-time due to the number of irrelevant reports and end up not using it for a while. On a recent road trip I think it was something like 17 irrelevant reports out of 20 alerts. Also common, but not to that extreme, to receive irrelevant alerts in South Florida during daily driving as well. (When I use Waze, I do so by listening through Bluetooth, not looking at phone screen.)
Thought about Laser Interceptor quads (not legal everywhere, but is where I live) on last car, but found cost of product + install (and then removal / reinstall when getting new car) to be too much. Value will depend on how / where you drive and your propensity for getting tickets as a result of police using laser.

Passport Max2 for me. Works great so far. I know there's a lot of debate and scenarios where they can outperform each other, but honestly in the end; ANY radar detector is better than NO radar detector.

For those with the Valentine One where exactly in the car is it installed? Radar detectors are illegal in Belgium but I would lovr to have one installed but it must remain invisible when the cops stop me.

I have a older escort in 1 car and just placed a new V1 in the M4.
I have to say that the directional indicators and the number of signals it is picking up is very helpful. I think picking between them is important but get one. Been saved many times.
