Connected Drive not working.
It doesn't appear my Connected Drive is working on my new MY16 F82. This is all I am seeing in my menu. The Amazon app isn't working nor traffic either. Thoughts?

I'm seeing the exact same thing in mine. BMW Genius also advised me to have the dealer check it out. Funny thing is it was working when I picked the car up. Seems to have stopped working around the time I called BMW Assist to have them "activate" the service.

They had to retry activation again before it would start working. First time they said something strange happened and the status got stuck so they had to resubmit the activation after that it was an hour before it started working. |

I did the 1200 mile service this morning and interestingly they couldn't see the BMW Assist paperwork in their system. So they resubmitted. The 800# said everything was in place when I called last week.
However, Connected Drive is still not working. I'll wait a couple of days and see if it works otherwise back to the dealer next week.

Have similar issues with my '16 M4. I can't get the BMW connected drive to work, which means I can't use my android app to cool the car before I leave the office (basically all i'd use it for). The BMW genius rep stated he is seeing a lot of these issues and entered a trouble ticket to their IT department. He stated he'll give me a call back in 2-3 days. We'll see what happens...

Called my dealer back and they are telling me over the phone that they can't fix it and it is on the "server side". It surprises me that to get things like displaying the Amazon app requires that...but regardless it seems there are lots of different stories here between my dealer vs what the genius line and what you guys are saying. I'm taking it in next week but I don't have any confidence they will fix it. Are there any specifics I should share with my dealer?

Same issue here. They updated it but things are still not right. I now have the option to go into the menu but my pandora app isn't working and I get some weird "you must be connected w your phone open and BMW apps ready app installed". I've never seen this before. Amazon music works fine. But even trying to get it to open is difficult. Before all this I would be able to just go into connected drive menu w pandora open in my phone and it would just come up and give me full access to the app. Now nothing at all. But it will play through the usb cable as an external device. What's gives ?

Both times the dealer said the step that was completed would "activate" the additional menu options after a day or two and they didn't need to program anything. I still have the same menus as in my OP. I'm calling them in the AM.

Nothing is happening now. It just tries to load the app. Says apps are loaded but no matter where you go to select it there aren't any apps there to open. I'm getting the run around w bringing it back in for the second time so will most likely taking it to another dealer.

Same issue here. Mine had been working fine, Noticed it quit working a few days ago. Never did the SOS call, so I just did that. We'll see if that makes a difference after a bit. 1200 mile service is on Thursday will see what they say if still not working then. Frustrating to say the least!

I got the same issue on my M4 got an appointment tomorrow with the dealer to get it fixed. (2 week old m4 with 400 miles)
Called many times the different 800 numbers, and was told that it will self to update, never happened. |

Didn't they change from 4G to LTE in the sim chip between MY15 and MY16?
maybe it has something to do with that.

They did provide one additional piece of information, saying BMW had "just released" a service bulletin about certain model ranges having ConnectedDrive issues including my 2016 M4. The bulletin says to contact the BMW Genius line for a fix. I forwarded this info to the SA (since my car is still at the shop) and he said he'd look into it. I'm expecting an update this afternoon. It wasn't clear whether the dealer needed to contact the Genius line or whether this is something the owner can do himself. On the one hand I don't want to pick the car up until they fix this, on the other hand I really want my car back and the 528i loaner they gave me drives like a giant boat!
