Question Subwoofer/Amp Installation Problems

Hi All,

I took my M4 in yesterday to have a 12" W6 and Amp (MMats 1400.1) installed. I took my car to 'Tint World' assuming I could expect a slightly higher quality of installation.

From the beginning there were issues, the guy couldn't find anywhere to tap into power so he called me and I advised him the cigarette outlets did power off eventually but he wasn't able to find anywhere that would turn on/off instantly when Starting/Stopping the car.

I read a few other threads and people have used the USB power in the rear, is this the best place to have the power tapped into? Does it shut off instantly when the car is turned off or is there a similar delay like cigarette outlets?

They really messed up installing, broke some clips in the trunk putting everything back together, hoping I wouldn't notice, but I did. Have a front/rear camera that was recording video/audio the whole time, even have video of them flooring my car when bringing it in. Power wires to the amp were also touching slightly so there was a spark when I would lift the rear seat up and down!

Pretty disappointed but they will refund me the full installation price and I just need to know if I should take it somewhere else and have the power cord tapped into somewhere else or if it's fine. I don't need a dead battery with the amp, radar, and cameras rolling for a period of time after the car shuts off.

Worst part, my W6 is about 7-8 years old, the rubber cone ripped after a few minutes of playing, dropped it off somewhere today to have it fixed for about $70, better than buying a new one. Cheers.

You need to PM Technic for his wiring harness. You'll also need either a Lc2i digital LOC or a Dave Navone custom analog LOC.

Power is off the battery
I use powered antenna for remote in trigger.

I purchased an LCi2 for them to install but they told me I didn't need it and put an SNI-35 in instead.. Everything worked ok but is the LCi2 necessary or just better? I don't care about adjusting all the bass levels.

If you have logic 7 you need lci2 as voltage is too high for what you have.

Second there is no instant off on e92 or f80. Power attend wire stats on for 5 mins or so after car shut off. Too many electronics in a ready state that modern bmw doesn't really have a instant off remote. It will shut off within 5 mins.

Im going to advise you to not use that stereo shop bud. If they knew anything about BMW sound systems, they would know that, that 10 dollar low volt LOC is just going to FRY.

Our cars have funky voltage spikes that REQUIRE custom made LOCs (which I have) or you must use LC2i as Technic the GRAND MASTER of BMW stereo installs has taught us.

Good luck dude. PM technic man.

Yeh I already told the owner that I will allow them to correct everything and install the LCi2 but I didn't want the person who worked on my car before anywhere near it. Will see how it goes. Can't PM Technic, he must have PMs off now.

Edit: now they don't want to touch my car, which is fine with me and are fully refunding all the labor and I guess I'll try to find another place once I get my W6 back from being repaired.
