Calm before the Winter Storm

Took this pic this morning as I got into work. Snowed an inch over night here in DC. First snow of the winter. They are saying that we are going to get dumped with 12 to 20 inches starting tomorrow and lasting through the weekend. I'm thinking I might do a photoshoot or shoot a new video in the snow. We'll see.

Nice! I love to see people daily drive their beasts. Cars are meant to be driven. Stay safe. I am up in NYC and we are expecting the same.

Michelin Pilot Alpins FTW dude! Although the DCT software doesn't really like the traction that the tires provide and gets confused sometimes. I also clicked over 62,000 miles last weekend.

I like the way you love and appreciate your car... there are rare people having high performance cars and really enjoy their car no matter how expensive their car are... you are one of them Dave

That's awesome man. I only have a 535 M Sport but have been lurking more and more in the M5 forums as I am thinking this might be my "next stop" on the BMW train. I run Bridgestone Blizzaks on my OEM 19's and they have been solid for me as well.

62K miles... wow - nice to see the mechanical aspects are all solid!

How is the wrap holding up - any issues with winter weather?

The wrap is actually about to undergo major restoration next week. Getting several panels replaced due to wear and damage. Also in a bold move getting Clear Bra put on top of the wrap on the front bumper and entire hood. I'm also getting her ready for her next major cross-country trip which will occur very soon. I thought about removing the vinyl all together but the color really gives the car a lot more character and I love looking at too. Although I do miss Black Sapphire Metallic a lot, it's still a pain in the ass to maintain on the East Coast.

Oh and I also might have to replace my battery soon. The cold weather is really affecting the charge holding capacitance on it and it seems like no matter how much I drive it, the battery drains in this weather. Plus the battery is 3 and 1/2 years old at this point, probably time for a change anyways.

Check for that battery SIB - I think they were updating from 90 to 105 mAh for only 2014 and up but if you can persuade the dealership for a replacement then bonus savings. Not sure if your have extended warranty - worth a check.

Sounds like a lot of fun, were only projected to get 6" in CT. Hey, can you put chains on an M5? Are they even legal? Now that would be some serious fun.

Looks nice. My wife and daughter are in NYC but checking out just before the storm is due. Hopefully the snow holds off until Sat.

So I took my 343s off and put on 601s with snows...gotta admit, I like this look more than the Michelins on the 343s. and just in time for the winter blast. Thanks 05Mdriver!

Looks good. I did the opposite of you with my M5. 601s with summer tires and 343 with winter tires.

Dudes, been snowing now for 24 hours straight. Over 2 feet of snow here. Unfortunately, I think the snow is too much to even attempt to take the M5 to this open lot right next to my house. Lol! We'll see how things go tomorrow. It really is one of the worst blizzards I have been in.

27 inches here in NJ. Managed to get my X5 loaner out of the driveway but was stopped 5 minutes later by state police. Apparently your not supposed to be driving?

Good idea not to try to drive the M5. Even with winter rubber, that much snow makes it likely to get stuck somewhere. Stay safe.

This is about the only time I wish I had an Audi Allroad or a Ford Raptor. Lol!

There's a 4pm curfew, no driving on any roads.

So I have a 328xi loaner and took it out in about a foot and a half of snow and it was a blast. It was a blast trying to get it sideways. Be safe out there.
