Bluetooth not handing over to Iphone 6s+ when shutting off the car, please help

When i am on a call and turn the car off the call is not handed over to my Iphone6s+ but remains on the car's bluetooth. I have pushed the start/stop twice and locked the vehicle and the call is still on inside instead of on my phone.

Please advise

I contacted BMW genius and was told that i must manually handover the call through my phone or turn off Bluetooth via the car. Bmw's software is designed to retain the call in the vehicle. This may be changed in the future as they have received negative feedback regarding the software.

im not sure if i remember correctly but as soon as you exit the vehicle and lock, all systems shut off, and hands off call to my iphone 6+, cant remember if this was a setting or just how it works for me.

It wont do it on mine. Bmw genius said that is how the car is programmed.

I prefer it this way. you can always manually switch the phone to phone or speaker. The car will shut off if you lock it from the outside.

I also have an iPhone 6S+ and conduct about a half dozen phone calls per day in the car. There's no way around the procedure you mentioned.

All I do is unlock my iPhone, tap the bluetooth logo where it would normally have the speaker button and switch the audio output to the handset or speakerphone. As you walk away from the car the Bluetooth will disconnect from the car eliminating that output option on the iPhone.

Ditto for me. You just gotta do the manual switch off. I kind of like it as I can switch off the car and sit and chat if I like. After a while, when iDrive is ready to shutoff, it even gives you the option of keeping it on by pushing the audio on/off button as well. So I kind of dig it. But it would be nice if on opening the door the BT disengaged. I'm surprised this isn't a coding option...
