Tire life

Well I am about to turn 23k miles and just saw cords on the inside edge of the fronts........Michelen Pilot SS.......think that was a pretty good run for the original set...four new MPSS next week.

Yep same here. I got 24500 out of mine ordered at 23k but took a while to get them. Was very satisfied. The same reason cords showing on the fronts.

Very good life. My PZeros were toast by 6500 miles. Have 8500 on PSS now and they're at 75% still in the rear.

Got 20,0000 out of mine. Had to settle for P Zero's since the PSS were on backorder. We'll see how long they last for.

Eeeeeek I'm doing something wrong.

Michelen Pilot SS all down to 2.5mm and changed at 14,500 last week! no uneven wear, uniform over all 4 tyres.

Or maybe I'm having more fun lol. Oh and no its never been tracked.

Tire pressure might be a factor. I think the higher the pressure the more quickly they will wear because of the camber.

EU Spec PSS have a slightly softer compound and 1mm less tread depth than US/DOT Spec.

Then again if you are a follower or F1 you will know there are some drivers who can get much more life from a set of tires and they are pretty darn competative

17k on P-Zeros. Rears were toast but fronts had 4-5/32 remaining. One track day. Replaced with set of MPSS. 1,800 miles so far.

I just had to replace my PZeros rears after 8K. Fronts look fine so reluctantly put another set on with the hope after another 8k I will replace all 4 with something else.

Apologies for a slight tangent, I understood that 35 psi all round (for general use and the odd blip into higher mph's) - was ok?

I believe 41 psi is what is labeled on the inside of the door for speeds in excess of 100mph.

Yes and no. There are a few R Compound, All Seasons, and less frequently used brands like Toyo. Yokohama Advan Sport V105 is available in the US (I actually have at least 5 sets sitting in storage if anyone is interested or in a bind waiting on PSS2/3 or PZero). Never had any real complaints with them however I've never run them on an M5 either (only F10 550i, F06 640i, and F12 650i. Outside the US Continental has several options.

Most common obviously are PSS and PZero which makes them the easiest and also most difficult to find.
