CF Diffuser - Black or Chrome tips.....need help choosing (pics)

I am pulling the trigger on a AC Shnitzer (ACS) CF rear diffuser, the kit comes with oversized chrome or black tips. I am on the fence on which tips to choose.

It's going on my YMB M3 that has the following cosmetic mods; ACS CF front lip, MP CF rear spoiler, MP black kidney surrounds and window tint. I kept the stock chrome side vents just because I like the look of them with the silver 19s.

I would really like your opinion to help me decide but please keep it constructive.

I also put in a poll if you want to vote.

Pics below and thanks

Not a huge fan of black tips, I definitely prefer the contrast and the better visual effect.

I thought I would like the contrast better. However, every time I see black tips with carbon fiber diffuser it look "mean" to me. I am stuck as well.

Always silver/chrome tips. Black, from distance, look like they have never been cleaned.

I was in the same boat. I wanted the contrast of the chrome tips. But they never really looked right to me as the stock tips are small and the rest of my car has black bits everywhere.

I went with the 90mm Vorsteiner tips. These are a bit unique bc they have a black chromish finish and the inside of the tips are stainless so you see a contrast against the CF diffuser when looking at them. They are also bigger than stock and install in a staggered way that follows the curved contour of the rear end.

Sounds silly but they might be one of my favorite mods.

You're welcome. It's a matter of personal taste, but it kind of sounds like you'd like to go a similar route.

I bought regular gloss black tips (painted on the inside) and they just didn't work. They were almost invisible against the cf rear diffuser.

The Vorsteiners are different. They pop and are very visible. In person they look even better.

Proportionally, the look better with the car too in my opinion bc they are larger. The stock ones look tiny to me.

I prefer the chrome tips for the contrast.

Also, the stock exhaust muffler tends to be quite noticeable from the rear (as it's massive), so unless you also intend to paint that black, I would stick with the chrome tips.

So the crowd has it currently at 60% chrome. Chrome was my going in position in which I waffled on black once I saw my friends. I am pretty much in favor of chrome right now at the same percentage as the poll and almost for the same reasons.

Chrome has better contrast
Black looks dirty

But I agree with shawshank772 the black does look MEAN

I was in a similar dilemma, albeit with the M Perf diffuser/exhaust. I have SSII and I settled on two options...1) Ti tips with CF diffuser 2)CF tips with stock diffuser. Both had contrast, which I think is necessary. In the end, I went with the CF tips with stock diffuser. Total cost was less, and I think the CF tips look better with their larger diameter. In your situtation, I vote chrome tips with the CF diffuser.

Simple, depending on your rims, if the are black then black pipes, if they are light gray then... You know how it goes

Same here. Contrast is king.

I'm also a big fan of functionality and CF tips don't serve any purpose except aesthetics. Save the CF for the body panels and leave metal/chrome finish for the exhaust.

Well I have an appointment on Monday to put the kit on and I'm going with the chrome tips for the contrast and to match the rims and side gills.

I will post pics when I pick it up. ACS has also stated that the kick trunk opener will also work fine with their diffuser (unlike the MP) which was another huge selling point for me. I have really gotten used to that convenience and don't want to lose it now.

I was just about to go with black tips and silver hadn't even crossed my mind until I saw your thread.. after a couple days i changed my mind, going with titanium since i think the contrast will look good, and the risk of black tips just looking dirty is too great. so thank you! and good choice.
