Maybe he was shifting it from Drive to Sequential.
Or from Sequential back to Drive.
Or maybe the director just wanted "more intensity."

According to marketing, all sporty cars from BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, Toyota, Honda, Ford, Chevy, etc,....must have manuals retrofitted when shown in commercials.

Nice catch though. They do it a lot in movies too. You see the guy shifting and depressing a pedal on an automatic car.

There is just no replacement for the engagement and sportiness of a manual transmission. Period.

On a tight course with the steering wheel cranked hard left, it just feels easier the use the shift lever. I rode with an instructor on Sunday at the BMW Performance Center West, he did this also. Very entertaining ride, watching him during the lead-follow exercise, one hand (left) on the wheel and working the walkie-talkie with the right. He made this look easy one handed. 😀

I find the shifter naturally and easier in my E92 M3 DCT during some tight driving.
