Quoted $1200 to install downpipes?

Just a couple questions.
1st- how long to install the downpipes(catted if that matters)
2nd- already have stage 2 dinan tune- shops are saying I need it tuned after downpipes?
3rd- why would they quote 10hours of install time?

Because their thieves.

Most people have gotten DP's, myself included installed for $250.

I called a few other shops and they all seemed to be around 300. Even just a muffler shop said they could do it if I had the new gaskets, which I do.

it's about 2 hours labor time. 10 hours is straight up robbery, or does he mean it's 10 hours of labor time and the DP is free?

How were they planning on re-tuning the Dinan stage 2 tune anyway? LOL!

3 hours is fair shop rate for the S55 engine

For my Dinan clients that requested catless downpipes I install the Macht Schnell module to clear the CEL codes that will be present.
Otherwise there is NO catless downpipe fix from Dinan and they will not be releasing anything to resolve that specific modification.

I ended going with the afe twisted steel high flow catted downpipes. To my knowledge this shouldn't throw a cel. Guess we will find out!

One thing you will want to consider is that the Dinan tune does not clear the CEL from doing downpipes.

If something happens to the car i.e. crank hub issue, will Dinan warranty it with downpipes if BMW denies the claim due to the tune?

2-3 hours so probably 200 - 250 bux would be the going rate. Its actually pretty simple on the S55.
