Which Ignition Coil is the Revised Version?

I just changed the spark plugs on my used 2011.5 (10/10 production date) the other day for the first time myself. I was surprised to find the ignition coils in the engine did not have the "moveable" rubber boot that I had seen on DIY videos, but rather had a couple of metal balls pushing outwards from the coil to hold it center and in place (I'm unsure of what they are called). I see that there is an older part number (12137838388) and a newer part number (12137841754). Here are the two different styles:

Design 1:

Design 2:

Two questions:

1. Which image corresponds with with which part number?

2. Any idea if anything else on the part was changed besides the design of the centering mechanism?

I searched around, but found a lot of websites seem to interchange the part numbers and images, so I couldn't be sure which was the newer design. Hoping someone here had some first hand knowledge about this.

Glad I came across this thread because I'm wondering if they're easier to pull out than the rubber boot ones.

12137841754 supersedes all previous numbers, and they're interchangeable. I'm just planning a 200k maintenance to swap out all the coils and was researching about the newest revision.

So, those of you who have the newer revision coils, are they easier to pull out, with/without a coil puller (if you have one)?

Also, without removing it you can quickly look at a coil to tell if it's the new version by looking at the roundel on the top. The newer ones have rubber in half of the roundel logo and the old ones are all plastic.

Both styles still require the tool to remove them safely. Sometimes you can pull them free by hand if your're Popeye. You run the risk of breaking them if you pry on them.

An alternative tool is a properly bent metal clothes hanger

And the back 2 can be a total PITA.
