Looks good

Couple of questions: How did you get the boot off the shift knob? And how did you attach the new alcantara boot?

The steering wheel is OEM M Performance.

I did not like the look of all the color stitching all over the place on the M Performance boots so I did these with just black stitching (following the same stitching lines as OEM leather boots). Plus more carbon fiber is going to make my car look tacky.

The shifter boot is a pita to remove the collar that holds the fabric in place. It is plastic welded by two plastic pins. It is hard to explain but you can cut away the plastic welds and remove the boot then make a new boot and re-attach then with my soldering iron I was able to plastic weld the collar back on. If you are not diy/ MacGyver / know how upholstery works, don't attempt this, you will only make your self upset and frustrated lol

True, but i didn't build it for fashion i built it for purely a drivers part. I will eventually put some stitching on it to match the other alcantara boots

Don't ge me wrong, the work is amazing. Maybe if it was a little more padded it would look great?

Original on the right, padding added to the one on the left. So there is some shape to it:

Damn dude! You really need to go into business. I love the boots you made. Any chance of whacking together a few examples of these to sell as well?

Thanks guys! The boots are too complex for a diy for the average user. If you want to send me your shifter I could make you one. jwzimm

That is actually rather tempting but I am nervous about permanently modifying the parts since it is a lease.

How much were you thinking for this service?
