Got the new M3 wrapped & tinted
Took delivery of my new M3 two weeks ago and it’s been patiently waiting in the garage for its appointment with Derek at Atlanta Protective Films. I did some research on who to use and considering his level of expertise and being the exclusive installer for Ferrari/Maserati of Atlanta since 2008 it was a no brainer. I’m extremely happy with the install and his attention to detail.
Went with the following: SunTek Ultra: full hood, full fenders, headlights and mirrors Xpel Ultimate: full front bumper, carbon fiber splitters and spoiler Windows were tinted using SunTek 35% film Last edited by Bimmers4life; 12-23-2017 at 10:16 PM.. |

Probably because Suntek has less orange peel so looks better. Xpel is a bit thicker and this better protection but has more orange peel so put it on the high impact areas.
Should really do the roof too IMHO. I got a freak rock chip on the hood of my last car. Can't repair or repaint carbon fiber. |

Although both PFs are really good. Derek suggested to go with Xpel on the bumper and carbon splitters/ spoiler because it’s slightly thicker and will offer more protection for the bumper that gets hit the hardest.
Why not use Xpel for everything? Reason is SunTek has better clarity, less orange peel and more shine. It brings out the metallic flakes in the paint really well. Car looks absolutely amazing! Last edited by Bimmers4life; 12-23-2017 at 04:06 PM.. |

When I scheduled the appointment I told him no to the roof and then changed my mind at the last minute. Unfortunately he stays booked 2-3 weeks out and didn’t have time to do it but I’m going back in a few weeks for him to do it. I’m a body shop estimator so I’ve seen first hand what rock chips and debris can do to carbon fiber. It’s not pretty.

That’s cool man. I was so paranoid about driving the car home from the Performance Center in SC and then again to his shop. Car had 200 miles by the time I got to his shop. I was scared to ask him if he found any rock chips during the install but he said there wasn’t a single one. Pheeew!!
