Best Rock chip repair

What's the best way to get rock chips repaired without getting it painted? I know about touch up paint and dr color chips , can A body shop just sand and fix the rock chips only without painting the whole area ?

Yes, but it takes a lot of time and skill and will still not look perfect; thus many (? most) body shops don't do it, especially with the availability of Dr. ColorChip, etc. The old fashioned way is to build the paint up one layer at a time (it takes a lot of layers + drying time) until the paint is above the chip, then wet sand, then polish then apply the clear coat (if using). Did I say it take a lot of time?

You should go to a body shop and have them mix you up proper color. I find that my paint guy makes a better match than BMW touch up paint

This is not BMW touch up paint, it is dr colorchip paint i am talking about.

I called them and they fixed the description.

Dr. Color Chip works great. I used it extensively on my old "World Rally Blue" WRX that had road rash from hell. It's not perfect and you can spot it if you look close, but it's worlds better than having the primer show through.

It's also pretty easy to use if you take your time and follow their instructions.

Looks ok to me. That's been about my experience with dr colorchip, it fills in the chip and certainly does not look perfect but it is much less glaring than seeing through to the plastic/sheet metal. From a few feet away it's almost unnoticeable.

I agree with all this. I have Tanzanite and my installer used Dr. Colorchip during paint correction prior to Xpel and ceramic. Considering the ultra-metallic nature of Tanzanite the results were much better than my expectations. Not perfect certainly, but the repaired points are VERY difficult to find and possibly impossible to find unless you knew they were there.
Comments by others that a competent body shop could produce equal results are correct. I choose to have my installer do this only because I saw multiple examples of his work.

^^Thanks...I've been meaning to purchase some Tanzanite Blue Dr. ColorChip to repair various chips from an overzealous PA plow truck operator this past winter when he had his salt spreader set ridiculously way too high and it showered down on me!!! I was fing livid to say the least!!! Good to know the color matched well. I never used the stuff before.
