Wow, I think I paid like $1000ish in September for my OEM replacement. I had mine done in Germany though at a windshield spot--not dealer. I would check around, pretty sure you can get something way cheaper than that! |

Did you check with your insurance? Most cover it under comprehensive so you won't take a hit for the claim. If you do go with insurance, make sure they will use OEM parts.

Yes BEWARE Geico insurance does NOT cover OEM parts and labor. Although my deductible for comprehensive is $250 they said they do not agree to OEM pricing and labor. they pay a max. of about $500 to replace the M3 windshield with some cheap Chinese knock off.
Never choose Geico insurance for your BMW>

The part is about $1200 for glass and the sealant with tax so that's the same everywhere the difference is in labor where I BMW want $1800 for labor alone...

I may or not be right/wrong..
If your car is 2 years or newer, the insurance company/body shop MUST use OEM parts. If older, then they can use used parts or non OEM. Not sure if it applies to glass |

You might want to check your policy becasue a lot of insurance coverage is zero deductable for glass and if new car they allow OEM/Dealer install. I had to fight for my 2009 to be cover with OEM last year. They covered 75% and I got a chip in the glass two months later.

I had my windshield replaced by Safelite. Check out this post for the OEM parts list based on what options you have installed.
